Eight Ball Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) Thinking of buying Arma2, is it worth it? It all depends of what you're looking for. ArmA is clearly a game like no other in the FPS genre. Just like Havoc said the mission editor itself worth it. Possibilities are endless, really. You can play 10 times the same mission and have completely different outcomes. Don't miss all the addons, mods and scripts from the community, that's one of the most active and creative community I've ever seen. Everything you see in this vid, except the Longbow, is community content (maps, vehicles, FX,...) I'm playing this series for 10 years now and I never get bored ! BIS is also one of kind developer, really close from its community, several devs participate in the forum, providing help and such, the game is constantly updated. For example they've released "lite" version of their DLC to avoid spliting the online community. In the end ArmA is like a good wine, it's only after 1 or 2 years that you can enjoy its true potential Edited February 18, 2011 by Eight Ball 2 Find The Links To All My Mods And Liveries Here (in the gallery)
Sticky Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Thinking of buying Arma2, is it worth it? Haha, what? Are you looking to get a second copy peyo? :D For those interested for real I can recommend buying it. Get Combined Operations. Use trackIR with it, get latest ace, TS3, go online and never look back. First kill with ace and trackir was a totally new experience. The only thing I dont like is the aerial vehicles, being spoiled with real flightsims will do that to you. But that was expected. The really good side of ArmA2 is online, if you never go online with your games then I dont know... Also, in the box comes a free vaccine shot against "waiting for beta 6 disease" ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My Sim/Game CV: Falcon 1,3,4. Gunship. A10 TankKiller. Fighter Bomber. Strike eagle 2&3. Eight Ball Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) BIS is really one of a kind developer, this is tte latest puzzle game they've putted together : http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=116545 Okay, so to sum up what we've got so far: 1: A dev blog entry named "Taking on a Sharper Focus" with the slightly different URL "taking-on-the-future", posted on March 24th. 2: Inside the blog text, a link hidden in the word "sense", pointing to a Google Street View location in Seattle, WA, close to the Space Needle. 3: A picture of the rear end of an MD 520N helicopter, posted on March 25th. 4: Encoded inside the above picture, three URLs to images that make up a composite picture of the Seattle skyline. 5: A new picture, this time of a guy wearing shades, sitting in what appears to be some type of aircraft. 6: Embedded within the above picture is a protected RAR file, containing a single text file named third_time_lucky.txt, which can be extracted using the password 313. The text file contains a link to a YouTube video of german pilot Charlie Zimmermann or Wilfried von Engelhard (not sure who) flying some pretty daring stunts in a BO-105 helicopter. 7: Encoded inside a new picture, the code FoXr9nmFPIQ from a Youtube video : Edited March 30, 2011 by Eight Ball Find The Links To All My Mods And Liveries Here (in the gallery)
Total Posted April 17, 2011 Author Posted April 17, 2011 Unfortunately, the lack of protection means we have to deal with more exploiters/hackers in the servers. Without sufficient anti-cheat an exploiting client can crash the server in seconds. Battleye is ok in some aspects, but falls short in many others. Better copy protection would help alleviate some of this. Not all, but some and any is better than none. And ED doesn't bog their games down with the full out Starforce. Only the essential portion of Starforce needed for copy protection is needed. All the other crap that gets loaded in many other SF equipped games is not present in FC2 or DCS series ;)

joey45 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 A2 RTF is both DLCs [ BAF and PMC ] on 1 disc . The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. andysim Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I got both the PMC and British Forces to go with ARMA2 and OA. For £5 each they are a great addition. I finnished the British one in about 3 hours though :). its a very short Campaign but I will use the units for my own missions. Still got PMC to go. Btw for the first time last night I managed to add a 3rd party script to a mission I was making that allows air support, ie Transport ect, so I can deploy and exctract on call :) I even added a breifing with a script and it works!!. Im still pretty new to editing in Arma2 so its a steep learning curve.
Napa Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 (edited) Just bought Arma2 from steam for 6 euros.. can't get cheaper than that.. seriously. edit: and 5,35 euros for PMC. Steam never seizes to amaze me with their prices.
