It would be, but I'm worried about the AI in single player. Also, I'm worried about how most people would learn the pilot role and not the WSO role, which would be kind of problematic in multiplayer.

If possible, it might help if the cockpit in MP could allow one player to have different difficulty/realism level than the other. That way, if a person is required to fly in a seat they aren't familiar with, they could make it a little easier so they aren't just pressing buttons at random.

But, maybe I'm wrong... maybe that won't be a problem.

Also, don't get the wrong idea, I'm all for realism and I play both A-10c and Ka-50 in simulation mode. :smartass:

i would find playing as WSO at least as interesting as playing the pilot.. but.. i also think that the AI Pilot/WSO would be pretty problematic, so i highly doubt that ED will make a two seater sim anytime soon.

WOOOOoooooo

This all brings back my statement months ago about how they should make 2 versions of the Super Bug. The E model, for those that want to fly alone, and the F model for those that want to fly with someone. The 'F' model, give the person in the backseat a set of controls that can be switched by either pilot or Nav on/off (for instructor purposes), sothat if either pilot loses connection to the server, the other pilot can at least bug-out, head home, and grab the single-seat version. Having the 'F' model though, could be used for Aerial-Tanking as is real-world, or make it possible to switch over to the F/A-18G Growler Electronic Warfare version.

Only having the single seat version knocks off way too many options for this jet. Having the backseater creates a whole knew world of things the pilot can do, and it the real world requires specialized training. According to a friend of mine that's a PC on the superhornet, "...any pilot of the E-model cannot just jump into the F, and vice versa. There are regulations against it..." However, in the sim, we all can learn it at our own rate and since it's a sim, we're not killing ourselves or anyone if we do something wrong.

The only real issue I see has nothing to do with teams/ai/2-seat ops/etc... Where I would see a problem is in the MP scoring. Sure the scores aren't everything, but that's where I would see it being tough. Also with Ping rates. If the Pilot has a lot lower ping than the RIO, there may be issues....

All this talk of the AI being the issue, I'm sure ED could come up with any number of solutions.

I hope will be FA-18 superhornet, but including a WSO AI for single payer and a human WSO in multiplayer, it means than a human can pilot the F-18 and the other be his WSO in the back seat, amazing!!

WSO is a AF jargon; Navy back-seaters are called navigator or RIO.:smartass:

When it's ready. ®

I've been waiting on Jet Thunder and Mechwarrior 5 since 2006 because of this same shit! :spam_laser:

Frameless cockpit will do ! :)

No kidding... I count count the number of times I've lost something while it passed through the obstructed frame in A-10. I need to get better about that... but still, it's really annoying. It also gets in the way in formation flying a lot!

You're keeping your face too close to the front then. Back off!

Incidentally, I prefer a view from this pit: F-15e_cockpit.jpg

From experience, the frame doesn't really obscure anything when you're sitting in that seat.

But where does my rear view mirror go!? I personally like the frames, even if they give me blind spots. The A-10C even has some useful gauges on the frame.

Do you lay back real far in an F16 sort of like an F1 driver? Seems like the pilot in that photo has his knees up pretty high. I will take the F15 cockpit over the F16 as well.
