I realise thats its very early days, but how would you rate the weekends sales? Disappointing, as expected, overwhelming?

Theres no sinister reason for this, it would just be very nice to know that the future of ED, and therefore DCS, was assured !

I don't think they will comment on sales, most software companies don't.

sales number for simulations are always very low compared to "mainstream" games, on the other hand simulations tend to live longer lives, there's only so many ways you can complete any COD game.

I think it is success. Look at market - there are no many companies which produce military flight sims (modern warfare). So... good for ED ;]

However maybe someday we will see FighterOps....

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

It look like to me that Eagle Dynimics and Fighter Collection have built a bussines model that works. Therefore, this, and future projects are definately comercial success.

I'm not really looking for figures or any 'insider' information - but a 'its going better than projections' would be nice :)

The first hours after the release were definitely a blast :) Don't you worry, FC2.0 will be getting new users during these 12 months we have until the release of DCS A-10:tomato:

Very good point. The release date for FC 2.0 was a good choice to keep the community interested in the sim until the next DCS module comes out.

Expecting the DCS:A-10 in early 2011 now....

kind regards,

I have a feeling that it will do very well. Fast jets, an almost perfect difficulty level (you can strap on a LOMAC jet very quickly; but difficult to master) and I think they'll do a lot of sales.

I don't think that flight sims are as failure-prone as some might think they are. Flight sims, especially combat ones, have a built-in appeal. You fly around at high speed and you shoot at stuff and blow stuff up. Remember Falcon 4.0 Allied Force? Rumor has it that it sold hand over fist and was quite a succesful product, despite being a study sim with nearly 10 year old graphics.

The problem with flight sims is measuring the success in terms of developmental time and money vs. sales. They aren't like the next Call of Duty game that is in developement for 2 years with an unlimited budget and nearly guaranteed sales of millions and millions of copies, thereby returning the investment tenfold.

Producing products for the Private and Public sectors for ED appears at this time to be a sound Management Plan. Lets hope this trend continues.

First, they won't share profit information with consumers. Secondly, why don't you wait more then 2 days before asking if the release is either a "commercial success or failure." You can't brand a product a failure or success in 2 days. No company will know that until at least a couple months or more.

Lastly, this is a niche market. And as such this (to my knowledge) is the only modern combat flight sim that's still being updated through the wishes of its user base.

Yes they had to raise the price, but that doesn't mean the company isn't going to produce any more products.

This thread is premature in my opinion.

Good. Not asking for it.

Because I care - and they will know if they hit their targets or not.

Wags:"Sorry, but we don't comment on such issues."

Fair enough.

Think I'll buy another copy just in case :)
