majapahit Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 did my 1st mission 'airport' with the A10 well made couple of mistakes, like dropping 12xripple MK-84 on the depot from a 1500ft dive, oops, that's too low anyway, the brief said I commited 'fractice' on myself? duh | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
Moa Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 The literal meaning of 'fracticide' means to 'kill a brother'. It has the same word root as fraternal ('brotherly'). You didn't kill yourself intentionally so your death wasn't 'suicide'. You didn't kill another, so it isn't 'homicide', your bomb killed a peer (you and your aircraft) so it is called 'fracticide'.
majapahit Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 (edited) actually I was resurrected after being killed in action so it should be called out 'you've committed a Lazarus martyrdom' and 'you've earned 100 points for honorable seppuku and lost 200 points for stupid' Edited April 4, 2010 by majapahit 2 | VR goggles | Autopilot panel | Headtracker | TM HOTAS | G920 HOTAS | MS FFB 2 | Throttle Quadrants | 8600K | GTX 1080 | 64GB RAM| Win 10 x64 | Voicerecognition | 50" UHD TV monitor | 40" 1080p TV monitor | 2x 24" 1080p side monitors | 24" 1080p touchscreen |
mjolner Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I believe the term is " Fratricide ". I hate to be the spelling nazi but I just could'nt resist.

MadTommy Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 My wingman crashed into a building.. and i was accused of fratricide! I personally thought 'death by misadventure' would have been more appropriate. Blaming me for his poor flying seemed a bit harsh! i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music. coder1024 Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I'm new to LO and tried a brief mission the other day in the A-10. On the landing, I noticed the wingman right in formation with me on final with gear down, flaps down, etc. I thought that was odd. He just flew right into the ground as I touched down! I guess the wingman AI needs to be specifically told to RTB! I suppose that could be called fratricide. Pretty dumb wingman though :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] coder1024 72nd Virtual Fighter Wing Falcon 4.0 Allied Force Pit Trainer FalconLobby
Mugenjin Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 If you do that right, your wingman will land right next to you without the need to order anything ;)
coder1024 Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 If you do that right, your wingman will land right next to you without the need to order anything ;) in that case, maybe it was because I touched down right near the end of the runway which put him before the runway. so I guess you need to account for this in the landing and just land a bit beyond the end of the runway to ensure he has room to get down. RedTiger Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I think FC 2.0 has sort of a black and white view of what is fratricide. I'm not sure, but I doubt something like a mid-air collision with your wing man while in combat that causes his death would be considered a fratricide. I tend to think of fratricide as a deliberate deployment of force against a friendly combatant either knowingly or unknowingly, like you lock onto your wing man and kill him with a missile.
coder1024 Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 like you lock onto your wing man and kill him with a missile. wait... is that frowned on? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] coder1024 72nd Virtual Fighter Wing Falcon 4.0 Allied Force Pit Trainer FalconLobby
