The literal meaning of 'fracticide' means to 'kill a brother'. It has the same word root as fraternal ('brotherly').

You didn't kill yourself intentionally so your death wasn't 'suicide'. You didn't kill another, so it isn't 'homicide', your bomb killed a peer (you and your aircraft) so it is called 'fracticide'.

actually

I was resurrected after being killed in action

so it should be called out 'you've committed a Lazarus martyrdom'

and 'you've earned 100 points for honorable seppuku and lost 200 points for stupid'

My wingman crashed into a building.. and i was accused of fratricide! I personally thought 'death by misadventure' would have been more appropriate. Blaming me for his poor flying seemed a bit harsh!

I'm new to LO and tried a brief mission the other day in the A-10. On the landing, I noticed the wingman right in formation with me on final with gear down, flaps down, etc. I thought that was odd. He just flew right into the ground as I touched down! I guess the wingman AI needs to be specifically told to RTB! I suppose that could be called fratricide. Pretty dumb wingman though :)

If you do that right, your wingman will land right next to you without the need to order anything ;)

in that case, maybe it was because I touched down right near the end of the runway which put him before the runway. so I guess you need to account for this in the landing and just land a bit beyond the end of the runway to ensure he has room to get down.

I think FC 2.0 has sort of a black and white view of what is fratricide. I'm not sure, but I doubt something like a mid-air collision with your wing man while in combat that causes his death would be considered a fratricide. I tend to think of fratricide as a deliberate deployment of force against a friendly combatant either knowingly or unknowingly, like you lock onto your wing man and kill him with a missile.
