FLAMING CLIFFS 2, Problem Downloading

I recently purchased the program FLAMING CLIFFS 2. for downloading.

after completion of the purchase I was given a key code number for use with the registration.

On the documentation given by LOCKON there were 3 product files.

Setup.exe----Setup-1.bin----and Setup-2.bin

in addition the statement (you can download files via BitTorrent network)

The setups shown above had several columns with Servers names such as FTP1 thru FTP4 and HTP1 Thru HTP3, with locations in USA, Rusia and Germany.

Also in the last column under PROTOCOL show FTP and HTTP.

I proceeded to download what I thought was right.

Setup-1.bin

FTP1---Setup-1.bin----USA----FTP and

Setup-2.bin

FTP1---Setup-2.bin----USA----FTP

Downloading took a long time almost 3 hours, at the end the downloaded files were Binary Files that I was not able to open.

I tried to contact product support for the program, NO LUCK.it is impossible to connect with product support from LOCKON.

Can any one of you flight simmers HELP ME on how the program should be downloaded, and how can I contact LOCK ON PRODUCT SUPPORT.

You need all three files downloaded at the same folder:

 

setup.exe

setup-1.bin

setup-2.bin

 

Double click setup.exe and the installation will begin. Can't be easier.

 

If some of the files is downloading corrupt, you can try to redownload it or download via torrent (all three files at once)

I have downloaded all 3 files Setup.exe in the same folder

Setup-1.bin

Setup-2.bin

Setup-1.bin and Setup-2.bin show up as BIN files and cannot open them

When I double click on the Setup.exe file it ask me to insert disc 1.

I don't know anything about a disc 1, unless they are referring to Flaming Cliffs version 1.1, which I all ready have installed on my PC.

Thank you for your patience and perhaps you can give me a complete set of instructions for this download. ( Like downloading for dummies ) that will be me

As Distiler said, all the files need to be in the same place, same directory.

Step 1: Uninstall Flaming Cliffs 1

 

Step 2: Reinstall Flaming Cliffs 1

 

Step 3: Do not do anything to this installation, it does not need to be modified or patched in any way whatsoever.

 

Step 4: Make a folder labeled Flaming Cliffs 2 somewhere.

 

Step 5: download all of the setup files into this directory (Setup.exe, Setup-1.bin, Setup-2.bin).

 

Step 6: Make sure files are named like they should be. If the files are named differently than the ones above, such as the case if windows detects another file of the same name in the download directory, and renames the file to Setup-2(2).bin or such, then setup will fail. (read above for correct file names)

 

Step 7: Run Setup.exe

 

Step 8: Provided you followed all of the steps correctly, and that the setup files are all in the same directory, your install should be successful.

 

And for the love of god, don't try to run the DCS: Black Shark Setup.exe file to install FC2.0. From personal experience I have found that this doesn't work all too well despite their similar sounding names...

Just to note: FC1.1 does not need to be installed, FC2 will only look for the original Lock On (Ubisoft). Personally if you have FC1.1 installed i would uninstall it and the original Lock On.

Re-install a fresh copy of Lock On (Ubisoft). DONT RUN IT.

Then install FC2.

The easiest way is to post in the Lock On section instead of the DCS section. ;)

 

And I see that you mention the .bin files and being unable to open them - you are not supposed to be able to open them. That's sort of the point with them. Setup.exe opens them when it needs them. ;)

..you are being a bit hursh on the guy, I know if you have a couple of years of lock on behind the procedure is simple, but erase every thing (like someone who is getting in) and then it is a bit confusing.. "Add on", I need the original only for install then i can erase it..

But hey it's part of the flightsim business :)

Thank you for your info, about Bin files, however with respect of contacting Lock On product support I have not been successful can you give me the web address or e-mail address if you have it. I have sent several e-mails to Lock on no answer, maybe the e-mail address I sent them was not the correct on

If it doesen't work uninstall everything and start again.

1) you need original LockOn installed..

 

2) have FC 2.0 files installed in same directory (3 files)

 

3) click on the setup file.

 

Presto! game installs, and fly fly fly!

Regarding the issue. I really don't get it.

 

Could you make 2 screenshots:

1. Of folder with FC2 distributive files.

2. Of error message.

 

You can use a Snipping Tool for that: Start > All Programs > Accessories > Snipping Tool

As for support: did you read my respons at the top of the page here?

 

Also, maybe you can download them at a friends place and copy them over at a USB stick perhaps?

And please understand the "insert disk 1" message is a generic "Installer-message" saying "sorry, I can't find Setup-1.bin".

The message is hardcoded to such installers, and looking for media-set #1.

 

You can do another test if you know how to use a command-prompt.

So if you bring up a CMD prompt, change directory to the folder where you stored it

Example: if you stored it at D:\My Downloads

In the Commandprompt window type:

- D:

- CD My Downloads

- DIR

 

This is a similar output you should get, with the same sizes:

C:\Windows\System32>D:
D:\>CD my downloads
D:\My Downloads>cd FC2
D:\My Downloads\FC2>dir
Volume in drive D is Data
Volume Serial Number is 0E70-4AF4
