I am not by far an experienced pilot here in FC2- and BS playing in MP. I might not know how to evade a missiles or even fire a missile at the right time to get a kill, But I get lucky sometimes and one of my 120s will find its bandit. Most of the time I get shot down and the bandit evades my attack, more so than not.

But just recently I noticed something. Heres how it goes-

The bandit fires first, then I fire, then I get hit, then I notice that the pilot I fired on "All of a sudden ends up in the spectate area" Or leaves the server and comes back.

I just noticed this and more so when the 104th server just stopped and I went to another- and a player would do this.

I'm noticing it more and more- and I'm sure its happening alot more then I think.

I think its pretty lame.

how do you know for sure the person u fired on was the one ending up in "spectator" area? if the server is full of people u might get the wrong impression... people move in an out all the time... :) If its the same person doing it, then mabe there is something to it...

oh and btw, did u actually see the bandit disappear just as u were firing on him, or are u looking at it only after u are already dead? for all you know it could have been a mutual kill... :)

lots of factors can be at play here... but yes, this has been an issue in FC1 before, extremely lame i agree, and was usually done for "stats pumping" purposes.

As a result, in the 51st server we would penalize the pilot (on his stats) if such a thing happens and is proven to be done on purpose... it is also stated in our server rules that such behavior will be penalized by a "death" on the stats...

Btw, it was quite easy to check by logs, acmis etc...

IMHO this actually works. The question is: How can it be prevented ? Going into the ACMI files only takes place, after somebody complains. So many cases will not be discovered at all and the cheaters go along with it unharmed.

I'm not naming names here, but there were a few in the 104th server doing it- they are both in the same squadron- and another one was doing it in another server after the 104th crashed last night, and doing it repeatedly.

Also- I was shot down- they fired first then i fired- after I was in the aircraft selection menu- I seen them pop into the spec area. seconds after me being killed.

I don't think this is coincidental, they were close to their airfield having not been airborne for long. It is the same route these players take every round, I'm not looking for an excuse for me being a noob- I know this is happening, and there needs to be a way to stop it............

I have tacview going- I'll look for it.

Edit:

I added images of the engagment. It shows exactly what happen. In tacview it shows that I hit him, but he did exit the the battlefield and entered the spec area before I destroyed him, because I didnt get credit for the kill. And he didnt get a lose A/C.

Hm, maybe a "reenter cooloff timer" thingy could be usefull both for "switch side" as well as "leave/rejoin server".

I'll explore a couple of things in Servman.

Wouldn't that just stop the player/exploiter from coming back in right away. It would not stop them from bailing out of gameplay before they were destroyed.

Yes, but it wont be that fun to be sitting waiting to be allowed back into gameplay - may discourage them a bit perhaps?

I cannot think of any other method making it possible to prevent people from leaving the game - within reasonable gameplay rules.

Rgr that. It sounds like a plan. I hope that this can be put in motion, because it diffently takes away from the game.

Is it just me that feels this way? I'm not alone- wanting this to be stopped, am I??

As you say - that may be a personal preference.

As for myself, I'd go "bah, okai, no big deal, I'll find some other targets."

But we're all built differently - and with different goals when we play. :)

My suggestion, at least for now - is for servers to disable respawn. Yes, this means players must leave and rejoin the server currently. It is probably far less convenient than the current situation.
