I think I might be jumping into Black Shark at a point in it's life when many people are jumping onto FC2, which almost makes me sad. This forum section strikes me as almost dead while the FC2 forum is vibrant...

 

But I just have to say (I have a couple of beers in my system... So maybe I am emotional), WOW. The more and more I play the more and more I become completely impressed.

 

Everything is just so... Real. Every mission I fly I seem to learn something new about my Black Shark. The Deployment campaign taught me so much, and now the Oil War is just blowing my mind. It just feels like there is a real war going on all around me. I see enemy jets in the sky and I drop altitude and pray to God they don't take too much of an interest in me. I see my friendly artillery below me firing and WAY off in the distance, about 3 seconds later I can see little poofs of black smoke. I zoom in my Shkval and see the targets they are firing at in the distance. When an AAA pelts me in the side I see the EXACT spots where I got pelted, and notice the according systems in my cockpit light up with warnings and fires. When I get hit by a SAM and my pilot dies... I see my blood spattered in the cockpit.

 

Just Wow... I've never played anything like this before.

 

At times I feel like I am in the most powerful machine in the world and everything below me should fear my interest. At other times, I feel completely helpless and at the mercy of SAM's and bandits. Just like I imagine you would feel like in real life.

 

I really have no idea where this post is going, but this is the sim it seems like I have always dreamed of.

I feel the same way in DCS. I have this sim over a year now. I play almost every day and every time I jump in that KA-50 cockpit I feel I'm a complete noob. I still use labels, although the label color is the same for allies and enemies (mint green) to get a slightly better SA.

 

I can't even imagine how DCS:A-10C would be when it comes out.

Yeah, ED have made a masterpiece with DCS:BS.

 

I'm kinda rediscovering DCS at the moment, i've recently upgraded my CPU and motherboard, and man, it has totally transformed the experience for me.

 

Oh, and things will get better when the next patch comes out, gonna be so cool seeing the DCS and FC2.0 crowd reunited :)

It happens to me couple of times. The pilot died put the chopper remain in hover position. The camera went external and i was wtf....!!!!

Its a very addictive sim. :pilotfly: I am really looking forward to the A-10 and atm im learning the VRS superbug (FSX) but I still make time to fly the Shark hehe.

 

I cant wait till we can fly with the ppl from FC2 also hehe.

You cannot see it from within, the texture is only visible from the outside.

When DCS:BS came out the LockOn forum was dead. Wait till the BS patch and it will live up again. Next to that, when "the new" is off from FC2, forum activity will equal again, till DCS:A10 :)

Agreed. I was in military aviation during a war and I can tell you that this is the closest thing I've experienced since. I remember the days of the first sims and having to use my imagination to compensate for the visuals. Later, the visuals were better, but poorly done and invaded upon my imagination. Now with DCS:BS it's gone beyond my imagination of what can be simulated. It really is an arrival. ED's gone above and beyond.

 

Have you tried multi-player yet? If you get on a server where they're communicating and working together effectively, it really is mind blowing. Enjoy!

Truly amazing. This community is fantastic as well. I can't even fathom what A-10C will be like. How will I balance the Shark and Warthog? It will be great to have that problem!
