So I was wondering, could I buy a military aircraft modified to not carry missiles, bombs, etc.? I was thinking something around an F-16 or F-15. I would love to get an F-22 but I know I could'nt. Also, how much do you guys think it would cost? Just planning for the future:)

Due to a bit of a SNAFU, a former Blue Angel F-18 ended up in the hands of a private collector in the US. It was sold to him as scrap, but was in a big enough piece that it would have been possible to rebuild it and get it flyable again. The collector put it up for bid on eBay, but it never sold, and he still has it and is trying to sell it through a broker. The opening bid on eBay was just over $1million USD, and the estimate to get it flyable again was about $9million USD. So roughly $10 million as an absolute minimum to get a flyable F-18. Very likely it would cost more than that.

Of course, it was a mistake that it was sold in a repairable condition in the first place. Don't expect this mistake to happen again anytime soon, and of course these aircraft are not for sale to the public, so the chance of getting one without some bizarre stroke of luck (like the previously mentioned F-18) is zero.

EDIT: here is a story about it: http://www.strategypage.com/military_photos/ebay_f18.aspx

I was just thinking, because so many nations bought F-16s for their Air Force that maybe it was okay for people to have them. Time to make my own country, who's with me!

Maybe consider an L-39. Yeah, it's a trainer, but it can carry missles, bombs, rockets, and gunpods. No idea of the cost, but at least it's legal, and there's a support base in the private sector.

I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Terrain! Pull Up! Pull Up!"

Mmm, it looks okay but I would prefer something a little better. Is there anything the Russians are selling? Su-27 maybe?

There are videos in the Photos/Videos thread about private fighter jets. One is a flanker in the US and the other is a MiG-15 in Poland.

I was going to say, someone could give me 2 factory-new jets and I could sell one and would still be bankrupt by the end of the month.

There are now two privately owned SU-27s in the United States, in perfect flying condition.

Here the video of the first post-restoration flight of N131SU (the first of the two):

Man, would I kill to take RIDE in one of those, much less own one! I definitely wouldn't want to be paying the fuel bill, though.

I want :0.

Those look amazing! Let's see here, 10 dollars and my devilishly good looks should do it! And a great big smile if those two don't work to get it:)
