Yskonyn Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 This is what will happen! You will start playing the game - soon you will think "This is great - i really need rudders" Then, later you will think "I wonder if a TIR would help" Then - This is brilliant - i really need a few buttons and a collective and a cyclic and a couple of extra monitors and a ................ Its addictive and you will spend money. Im now on my 2nd version of my pit. Well it all depends on your cashflow... and admittedly.. on the wifey. :pilotfly: :music_whistling: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asus Z390-E, 32GB Crucial Ballistix 2400Mhz, Intel i7 9700K 5.0Ghz, Asus GTX1080 8GB, SoundBlaster AE-5, G15, Streamdeck, DSD Flight, TM Warthog, VirPil BRD, MFG Crosswind CAM5, TrackIR 5, KW-908 Jetseat, Win 10 64-bit ”Pilots do not get paid for what they do daily, but they get paid for what they are capable of doing. Mote Posted July 14, 2010 Author Posted July 14, 2010 Well unfortunately I've been having a long summer break until I start up on my computer science degree in a few months... so my income is unfortunately staggeringly low! Of course I should just go ahead and blame myself for that as I could've easily picked up some freelancing work, but how much fun is that!?
talisman Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Well in that case - i agree. ITS YOUR FAULT! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No - Its a Stinger - Damn....... My Pit - http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=42253
Bushmanni Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 This is what I have found necessary for effective employment of KA-50: Good HOTAS setup Rudder pedals Good head tracker (TrackIR) High quality (easy to use accurately and centers precisely) Ministick for Shkval in HOTAS Some programmable extra buttons besides HOTAS (20-40 will be enough) Ministick and extra buttons simply make operating the aircraft and Shkval a bit more faster but don't really give you any quantum leap in your effectiveness like TrackIR and HOTAS. Yurgon Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 As far as rudder pedals go, should I go Saitek or CH Products PRO? I've never tried CH, but can recommend Saitek, they're worth the buck. Still miss my old Thrustmaster Rudder Control System, which was lacking toe brakes and the foot rests were made of plastic and broke after a while. Other than that, great pedals. Right now I have Simped F-16C from DHS Electronic connected to the Cougar. If you can afford them, get them, but I would recommend the USB variant because Thrustmaster's upcoming HOTAS Warthog will not support the Cougar connector.
Mote Posted July 14, 2010 Author Posted July 14, 2010 Alright, just purchased the game through Steam, so will give it a try tonight! I'm locked and loaded with patience! :smartass:
manne Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Alright, just purchased the game through Steam, so will give it a try tonight! I'm locked and loaded with patience! :smartass: Awesome, congratulations! As far as your questions are concerned, I am currently playing Black Shark with a Logitech 3D Pro, almost identical to the one you posted in post #1. You can play Black Shark with it, it will not ruin the experience. It's just not optimal, I personally never used a better stick, but you can feel that your playing with relatively cheap hardware. But first get a feel for the game and then see how much you want to invest. I've been on the verge of shelling out hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a new HOTAS setup (haven't done it yet though), because I think it's worth it, Black Shark is simply an amazing AMAZING simulator. But you must see for yourself. I'll also add that I first played without head tracking, which was kinda OK, until I build a FreeTrack setup. Man! What a difference! I never want to play without FreeTrack (or TrackIR) again! With lots of :book: and lots of  you will hopefully experience the pleasure of :joystick: :megalol: and everything else Black Shark has to offer. Eventually you will want to buy better stuff, but for now: it's a good thing you got the game in the first place :D
Mote Posted July 16, 2010 Author Posted July 16, 2010 @manne: So far everything have been just fine with the use of my Logitech :) Although I really do get what you mean by using head tracking, as that's the only bigger problem I've found, seeing that it takes a bit more focus away having to manually look around the cockpit during flight with all those buttons :D I really do like the simulator though, and I'm fairly certain that it'll keep growing on me, haha. I could definitely see myself purchasing head tracking and a proper HOTAS setup as I can already imagine how much it must add to the experience.

Mote Posted July 16, 2010 Author Posted July 16, 2010 haha, believe me Haukka, already looked into it, aswell as having watched that video ^^ Unfortunately I am anything but ignorant of what I'm currently losing out on... :(
pyro1588 Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I'll echo that head tracking, a HOTAS setup and rudder pedals are a must for this sim to be truly enjoyable. I invested in a x52 Pro indeed, as well as the Being able to get away from the imprecise "twist rudders on a stick" was really helpful. I hate those twisting sticks ;) If memory serves, the Comanche was actually supposed to have a twisting cyclic instead of pedals. I wonder if it'll ever see implementation anywhere else.
