Will DCS:A-10 support forward air bases on straight stretches of highways? I know this isn't really in the A-10's current role, but I think it's a big part of it's past. Might be helpful for those looking to recreate a little Cold War action.

any fighter can operate from concrete roads, not just a gripen!

Nope, not just any fighter can. For example certain fighters would literally tear up the concrete plates by the hot air stream from there engines.

Also there landing gear may not be able to handle all the bumbs, holes and whatever else may be on a public road.

Then there's the thing of weight to consider, to heavy and the roads may not be able to handle the strain.

And how about wingspan? Public roads can be very narrow when compared to a runway.

Then there's something called FOD, Foreign Object Damage, i bet the grippen has some kind of system/design feature that makes sure (big) particles sucked up in the inlet don't end up in the compressor.

Not every fighter will have this.

Just use the gun to make a clearing and land wherever you want (As long as its flat.) Did the A-10 operate via FARP runways in the desert or road during ODS?

Yeah some Highway Base action would be great!!! :pilotfly:

Even in Falcon Allied Force were some Highway Bases. Found some old pictures from my Falcon days :) (taken 4 years ago)

Would be great to see something like that in DCS: A-10C!!
