No. I meant try living in a place, like my country for example, where people like her get killed for speaking out against military, politicians, cops, etc. How do you know she didn't hop her @ss to DC or spoke to people that mattered and was ignored In fact, she tried other channels and was ignored (forgot to mentioned she was threatened by, of all the people, the military when she first spoke up about it to her superior). Did you actually think people like her got up one day and said I'm publicly leaking this to the press without exhausting all available channels first? But according to your world, every single person that went to DC came back and live happily ever after, right? Every single person that has gone against the military always get treated like royalty and offered a group hug by all her peers? By the way, you watch a lot of FOX News?

I saw an amazing one recently on the National Geographic Channel... now, it's kind of a sensitive subject, and it's (provocatively titled, at least for these forums :)) "Russia and the West: Putin Takes Control". Despite the title, it seemed to portrayed the least biased view I've seen on TV of US-Russia relations from 2000 to present. They had interviews with Robert Gates, Condi, Colin Powell, the president of Georgia, the president of Ukraine, several top Russian diplomats, some interviews with Putin (not sure if the interviews were produced solely for this documentry or not though), a French diplomat (forgot who).

Yes, I hate the current attitude of "we have a right to know!" very, very much. Information is NOT free, just because it belongs to the government does NOT mean it belongs to the individual citizens, and NO, idle curiosity on behalf of a civilian does not justify endangering service members by disclosing capabilities, tactics, or intentions. And Manning should hang.

Ok, no not really, but they DO need to make an example of this guy.

 

The public in a free society has the right to know enough information to make informed decisions- like, how well a war is going, how many personnel have died fighting in it, what the military's broad overall strategy is (assuming that revealing it won't compromise operations, and it usually won't, unless the enemy is so well fooled they don't know what your overall strategy is). But we have no right to demand that the military release details of operations, videos, information, etc, that the military deems would harm security. They are the experts at the war game, and we HAVE to trust their opinions on what is safe for the public domain and what's not.

Well, then do you deny that you're making claims that fly in the face of scientific... umm... consensus? If you are, you're the one on which the burden falls to supply the evidence and hypotheses, not us. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

 

Edit- I changed the first part to be a bit more accurate, and which yes, is directed at you. The second half is not directed at you, just like I originally stated, before I made any edits at all.

Statements such as you made would be interpreted as I interpreted it most of the time, I think. I thought RIPTIDE also interpreted your reply in the same way (maybe this was a mis-interpretation too). As a challenge. Basically: "Ok then, if chi energy is not real, then what is the explanation for this?" Obviously, someone who regards chi energy as being real, and the youtube video being "evidence" of it, would issue this challenge.

 

What exactly am I making up, this interpretation? Of course I am making it up. Words are just marks on a screen or paper until they are interpreted. Did I over-react to my interpretation of your words? In retrospect, yes. Since my response to you was from a wrong interpretation, and since you find it offensive, and since it was, hell, admittedly, an over-reaction, I might as well remove the entire post, as without the first part, where I am addressing you, the second part has absolutely nothing to do with anything, as it was only tangentially related to the first part anyway.
