leerichards3500 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Hello all, This is my first thread on this forum and i have a feeling that its going to be my last... I purchased Black Shark on the net and having a decent (ish) laptop, i wrongly thought that my system met the reccommended requirements. Now, having installed this game a couple of times, and having not made much progress actually playing the game, beleive that i have a few "issues" going on here. Can anybody tell me firstly, that installing the game on a laptop is not a good idea due to processor capiblities and basically a laptop cant handle the pace of the game. Secondly, and i beleive most importantly, having a new laptop with windows 7 installed, the dam game is not compatible anyway... ok, i need help. But please go easy on me... Thanks for any advice in advance. Lee
joey45 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 DCSBS is combatible with Win7 best to post the specs of the lappy. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. power5 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I am playing on win7 64. CPU is most important in BS. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Aaron i7 2600k@4.4ghz, GTX1060-6gb, 16gb DDR3, T16000m, Track IR5 BS2-A10C-UH1-FC3-M2000-F18C-A4E-F14B-BF109
Steel Jaw Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 AFAIK no mobile CPU is gonna have the power to run BS (or FC2) properly. It will choke on it. 1 "You see, IronHand is my thing" My specs: W10 Pro, I5/11600K o/c to 4800 @1.32v, 64 GB 3200 XML RAM, Red Dragon 7800XT/16GB, monitor: GIGABYTE M32QC 32" (31.5" Viewable) QHD 2560 x 1440 (2K) 165Hz.
galagamo Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 There are most definitely laptops with the capability to run DCS but apparently this guy's is not one of them. So in greater detail what are your specs? A few specific things we need to know. What type of processor. How much ram. And Type/spec of the graphics processor unit. A DXdiag would surely shed some light. Aside from that I would recommend going into Options and setting everything as low as possible if you haven't already. Steel Jaw Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 There are most definitely laptops with the capability to run DCS. Without a GPU I do not see how. Speed Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Without a GPU I do not see how. Umm.. where do you get this assumption that no laptops have a GPU? My laptop is a dual core 2.4 GHz and a GeForce 8700M GT, and it runs BS on medium settings just fine. Intelligent discourse can only begin with the honest admission of your own fallibility. My Fing ID Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I was running it on a laptop until I punched the screen (I hate math) so it can work. 1
bumfire Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Yea, some high end laptops are basically desktop replacements and are way more than capable of running this game, hell some laptops even have sli, why I dont understand, as they are ticking timebombs due to the heat produced.
leerichards3500 Posted September 6, 2010 Author Posted September 6, 2010 Hello. Thanks for all your replies. Here is my laptop's specifications: Acer Aspire 5542 AMD Turion II x2 M500 2.2 Ghz 1 Mb L2 Cache ATI Radeon HD 4200 Graphics upto 1919 Mb Hypermemory & 4 Gb memory The game does install, although when i go to actually start it up to play a file error message appears and the screen freezes and it just says "loading" and stays that way. In the book provided with the game it says that during setup/installation i am supposed to be given the opportunity to choose play mode/difficulty etc... although this does not happen. As yet i have not got to the activation stage of the game yet. Thanks again for all your help. Lee
ZaltysZ Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Write the error message down and post it here. There is great possibility, that you are getting usual issues, when game is installed into Program Files. If so, install it to different location. Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
EtherealN Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 The specific symptoms you are describing are most likely not related to the below quoted part of your spec, but something you should be aware of: ATI Radeon HD 4200 Graphics That is unfortunately a very very weak GPU. For pure artificial performance numbers we are back between 2003 and 2005 to find "performance" cards that have similar power. That is however not the whole story since newer techniques improve things, but it still looks bleak. There's also the issue of whether it's memory is purely hooked from system RAM. My vague memory of that GPU indicates that it would not have any dedicated vRAM, which would also impact performance. If you are able to supply a DxDiag ( http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=44466 ) a more definitive analysis can be made. I also took the liberty of moving the thread to the Bugs and Problems section.
