Wait, not to take away from Deadman's great work, but since when is the USAF planning to retire the A-10C? I know they have talked about it, but they talk about a lot of things. Cripes, they just spent billions refitting to the C.

Back to the discussion at hand, apologies DM for going off the thread. It is interesting how I've suddenly seen the commercial market get A-10C panels. I sure don't know what's driving it. I bet they came on here and saw what yours looked like DM and saw stars and dollar signs. :thumb up: You sure aren't wrong about the CNC's and Lasers. I just don't know if it's because they are a lot more accessible now or what. I mean, I'd love to have one or both! The thing is, when the pit is done, I simply don't know what I would do with it.

Keep up the great work and if you get a chance, keep us updated. :smilewink:

Dzus Fastener tutorial, on the inexpensive side: DIY Dzus Fastener

MacFevre Germany is one if not the largest flight sim community out there. So I am not surprised that some one there is building Parts and panels for the A-10. The company that is building the panels and parts looks something like Franks set up building cockpits for their own flight simulator company and willing to sell parts on the side obviously not their main cash flow.

I would love to hear from some one that has actually be able to purchase a panel from them. It would be interesting to see an in depth review of the panels especially with the high price

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Weather has turned to cold to cast once again I have managed a bit of work on the plans though both side consoles are done and even have the Dzus rail in them.

I will probably make a few modifications to the top rail and change the current two piece canopy in to a one piece like on the newer training cockpits as seen below. This will make the construction of the canopy rail and mounting it much easier.

Most of the control panels are done the AN/ARC 186 will need to be changed a bit for LCD numbers

Well that was a long enough wait

Looks pretty good these will come drilled

for the shaft , cross pin on the canopy jett and for the counter set screw on the Emergency brake handle.

this material needs to be painted that will be up to the purchaser.

I will need to pick up a bit for plastic 7/16 or 11.11 mm

Guys in Europe and over seas let me know if this will work for you I have not found mm aluminum stock and beside the shipping would be more for something you could purchase at home.

the first cast parts are to clean out the molds of any crap

So how do they look god god it took long enough didn't it .

No I don't think there will be any thing released from the bone yard. The USAF has not been selling Aircraft cockpit parts for quite a few years.

I'm curious as to why this would be. You'd think given the budget realities of today that they'd be happy for any means to offset costs. I hardly think an ADI from a 1970s aircraft would be considered highly sensitive technology either.

Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.

Perhaps with the American litigation gene's they all carry, I can think of 3 reasons without thinking:

1. You may drop it on your foot and sue the seller for making such a rugged piece of kit which did not look like it could hurt your foot and not telling them to wear steelies when handling.

2. It may contain lead solder and you will sue the seller for poisoning your health because they didnt tell you that you shouldnt solder without ventilation and class A respirator

3. You may try and use it as a real ADI in an aircraft and sue the seller for causing the crash because it doesnt replace a pilots licence.
