SlyBelle Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Sorry if this has already been asked, but I could not find it. Although I like a good flight sim, I have to admit I'm not the best at them. I thought I read somewhere this game would have a "game" mode or something like that which would make it easier to fly. Is there any details as to what this means? How much easier does it make it? What kind of things does it simplify? Now hard core flight simmers, be kind to me and not make fun of my inability to master these kind of games :) Game looks really great and can't wait to read all the good feedback!
wildone_106 Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Im sure it has it although I dont have the sim yet, all their other products have an easy mode. So if its not in now it probably will be!
joey45 Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 Havent tried baby mode yet...... The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. 104th_Crunch Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 The option is there in the beta, but haven't tried game mode yet.
My Fing ID Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I'd stay away from game mode, atleast with the flight model because you might develop bad habits that will be a pain to change should you decide to switch back. We're also talking about a jet engine airplane so I don't think it will be overly difficult to fly it. It's not like a helicopter that's made to take off and crash, these things seem more like flying cars that are a pain to land. Who knows though, I'll probably crash on take off lol.
GGTharos Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 (edited) Hi, you don't have to simplify -everything-, for example, you can simplify the flight model and it will be easier to fly (mostly more forgiving), or you can also simplify the avionics. I would suggest that you not shy away from realistic flight simulation mode though, all it takes is a bit of education and patience (because getting things done correct requires some repetition - once you start getting it right, and then you practice doing it right some more, that skill will stay with you across flight sims because you will now know what you are looking for, at least instinctively if not formally :) ) Sorry if this has already been asked, but I could not find it. 104th_Crunch Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 I think there is nothing to be. ashamed about if you want to use game mode. It is there for a reason. If we could get every person that buys HAWK to buy A10C instead and use game mode, we'd all be better off. Larger sales and more players that might potentially use sim mode after a while. 1

First of all it's: "HAWX" :D :D:D Second, I agree with everything else in you post  It would be cool if HAWX had a "AFM mod" Spoiler AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, MSI MEG X570 UNIFY (AM4, AMD X570, ATX), Noctua NH-DH14, EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA, Seasonic Focus PX (850W), Kingston HyperX 240GB, Samsung 970 EVO Plus (1000GB, M.2 2280), 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 DIMM CL16, Cooler Master 932 HAF, Samsung Odyssey G5; 34", Win 10 X64 Pro, Track IR, TM Warthog, TM MFDs, Saitek Pro Flight Rudders

MadDogMcQ Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 As others have said, you should REALLY start off in SIM mode. No point wasting months in Game mode, only to feel like you're starting from scratch when you move onto Sim mode. Most online squadrons will run their missions in Sim Mode, so if you want to join in, you'll be miles behind everyone else. FlakBait Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Havent tried baby mode yet...... Way to go. Keep that up and you'll discourage even more people from getting into the already struggling flight sim hobby. Believe me, attitudes like that put off people looking to get into the hobby. Who could blame them? Why would they want to join a community with such elitist attitudes, and who shun people who don't play with the same settings? Over the last year I've learned that the flight sim community is way less mature than I imagined. 1

Not to worry, joey talks like that - he's our special dude, I'm sure he didnt intend to offend anyone. Right, Joey? ;) And yes, you're right - flight sim communities tend to stick with the mantra "real mode or die trying". I agree, we should welcome people who do casual flying a bit more often. But I can assure you, the community means well when they say "Try the real mode, you'll get so much more out of it". Which may produce another avid community member due to the interest. But again - not everyone has the time & resources to do that. IMO there's nothing wrong with using the Game-mode, some people may get more out of the sim this way. EDIT: This post was just another reminder to keep a friendly tone, thanks. Edited October 22, 2010 by Panzertard The mind is like a parachute. Agg Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 To be honest, the Hog isnt very hard to fly, so if you already have some sim experience you shouldnt have much trouble flying her. The avionics might seem a bit daunting at first, but just stick with it and you'll get a lot more out of the sim than if you stick to "game" mode. And of course, if you're stuck, come in here and we'll help you out :)
