Rapid, I see that you also use TrackIr. Does that work correctly with the new ATI drivers? On the Naturalpoint forum it is mentioned already for months that ATI drivers after 10.3 are not compatible with TrackIr 5 software. Because of that I did not update my video drivers for some time.

Catalyst 10.10D released, improved MLAA support

edit: just been running GTA IV with MLAA on my recently purchased HD5770, wow it looks amazing and runs so smooth!

To achieve this, i've been using a recent beta build of ATI Tray Tools

Mustang, are these hotfixes designed to be installed over the original Catalyst drivers? Also in your opinion which software is better at managing profiles and settings, Tray Tools, CCC or RivaTuner?

Thanks in advance,

Ax.

This driver is a standalone package, you need to uninstall any previous drivers first.

Personally, i prefer ATT over the other software, as it's more lightweight, others may like CCC for the profiling and other stuff like Crossfire management etc.

Oh, and Rivatuner is specific for nVidia cards, but it is useful since D3DOverrider is included (which works on all cards)

edit: just for so you guys can see, this is how MLAA is used on my 5770 in ATT

Cheers again Mustang, currently using D3DOverrider to enforce Vsync but I will give ATI Tray Tools a go to see if it will do the same.

You've lost me on "Morphological filtering" - going to have to google that one!

"Morphological filtering" is the new Anti-Aliasing method used on Direct Compute 5.0 cards and above (5800 series and higher) it uses a post-processing method of applying AA instead of the tradional shader based method.

Go back a few pages in this thread, you see some discussion about it

Mustang: are you finding App Preference the best option for A10, or are you also using at; MSAA for that as well? And isn't Vertical Sync getting applied automatically in A10 (therefore no need for overrider? Or is it preferable anyway to force Trip Buff.

Thanks

Since i don't yet own DCS A-10C i cannot answer :)

Hassata... yes you set AA to Application Preference... V-Sync is enabled by game itself so yes, no need for Overrider... and Tripple Buffering is for OpenGL

Did not know that about DCS-A10C, thankyou.

However I did find that I had to force Vsync in Win7 via D3DOverrider in order for it to work within FC 2 and BS, or maybe it's just me?

Yup same... DCS A-10C has this option already set in Graphics.cfg (sync = 1)

Looks like a damn blur to me. Focus loss, blurred edges with serrated dent still there, clarity and contrast altered to compensate but quite not makng it.

Who need AA with a monitor 1650X1050 or above ?

All i see its a decrease in performance.

HaF 922, Asus rampage extreme 3 gene, I7 950 with Noctua D14, MSI gtx 460 hawk, G skill 1600 8gb, 1.5 giga samsung HD.

Track IR 5, Hall sensed Cougar, Hall sensed TM RCS TM Warthog(2283), TM MFD, Saitek pro combat rudder, Cougar MFD.

It works very nicely when used in the right place, especially in games that cannot use AA, such as GTA IV, Bioshock 2, Wolfenstein to name a few.

And as for decrease in performance? none here :)

I hanven t seen much diference ingame to say the true but i don t play those game much, only seen them at friend places.

What i see is a distance management where you can efectively trade a crisp image in medium to far scene for blurred one. In such situation yes it does a diference since the human eye is not that good at sharp details in distance, it even seem more natural.
