Just picked up Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog

Found out that trimmer hat is mapped to view; I use TrackIR so I don't need the view mapped to this hat, and I want to be able to trim with this hat.

If I try to change ANY mappings in game, not just the mappings for the trimmer hat, I get an error.

Any ideas?

Edit:

For complicity, in my situation I was previously using a Logitech G940 HOTAS and switched over to the TM Warthog HOTAS.

I replaced the lua's in the DCS A-10C\MissionEditor\modules directory but still had no joy.

I tried the fixes outlined in all of the links in my previous post and none of them solved my problem.

I ended up reinstalling DCS: A-10C and applying the patch. After that everything worked as it should; the game seemed to load faster, too!

After uninstalling I manually deleted the following directories before re-installing:

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics

and

C:\Users\[user Name]\Saved Games\DCS Warthog

Well I now officially hate my TM Warthog, about a month after I got it the EAC switch stopped working... I thought about sending it back to France, but it's one hell of a cost and being without my stick for a month or so didn't appeal.

but now to make things even worse the right throttle isn't responding properly. i move the throttle about half way and it stops registering the movement and the x/y slew control hat goes mental. looks like I’m going to have to pay the £50 to send it back after all..

Eagles may soar but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Hi Smudge,

I was thinking about a TM Warthog, at £280 (Amazon) not cheap. I had a TM Cougar a couple of years ago...there is a dent in the pavement outside where it crash landed. ( The potentiometers failed one by one)

The link on the Amazon site points here and there is a warning re Asus and X58 Mobo users with this stick. I have an Asus P6t DeLuxe.

I will keep my Saitek X52 Pro. Works for BS and is Plug and Play. I should be able to program all the TM Warthog functions into the X52!

Cheers. ( BTW can hear the Typhoons at Leuchars from my loc!)

The problem is not AUS only ..

As for Smudge sent it TM, there no reason why to let them get free of their failures, they pay the posting bills.

...I was thinking about getting a HOTAS Warthog, but after all the problems people have with it, I'm not so sure anymore. Saitek sticks definately have their faults, but I've never heard about anything like this (except the Cougar...).

I guess I can say that I will be like you, Succellus :). I hate hearing about recurring problems with something that I want to buy, but I still have to buy it. It may be a gamble, and I may live to regret it, but the Hog HOTAS is so cool that I have to at least try...

had an LED fail (L Engine) no big deal maybe but a sign of suspect parts :)

Its a month old.

Apart from that its fine and the Stick is still first class in feel and function, never seen such high quality. Pity the throttle was not made with the same care

\\\\\\\\Edit\\\\\\\\

I have no idea why but now the LED is working again =) I didnt change anything it just stopped working for a few days and then It was back. Maybe it was on holiday +

HOTAS Warthog Button issues

Hi all,

I added my new pedals. I then had problems with my Throttle as the mapping got messed up with the brakes and rudder. I have loaded the Warthog setting from the Control Options. All good but some buttons dont work. For eg. the engine fuel flow switches are reversed and my Boat switch, pinky and flaps centre buttons can not seem to be assigned. Am I doing something wrong.:( Help needed getting withdrawls from not playing:joystick:

Have a look at key-bindings and DXInput with TARGET/DeviceAnalyzer.exe for both devices and check for any conflicts...

Then you can select those you want to use with control settings and clear those that should be ignored.

Here is my mix of TMW and a G27 (in the background):

I only got a problem when the throttles are split up. No problem when they are connected but otherwise they have movement to the side and not enough resistence. If I want to push the autopilot button on the left throttle when they are split up I always have to be extremely careful not to mess up the engine power because it's wobbling around. The resistence the button needs is much greater than the resistence the throttle needs to move backwards and it moves to the side additionally.

It's like they are perfect and strong when connected, once they get split they become weak and fragile, especially the left one.

Someone else with that problem ?

Have you tried to increase friction? Mine is about mid-range = 5 full right turn and Throttle wont move for an AP click.

BTW you have ENGAGE/DISENGAGE to help do the same in those circumstances.

Posted (edited)

One can increase friction ? I'll have to take a look at that. Haha oh my.... And I always wondered what the use of this rotary is. Damn I should have read the manual earlier :D

Increased the friction from 1 to 4 and it works perfect. Now I have to find a way to reduce the side-movement of the left throttle.

the side-movement of the left throttle

To me, this is the single most annoying thing with this hotas. But my right one moves, too.

I thought about attaching something to the side of the throttle to reduce the way it can travel to the side.

But the real cause seems to be the bearings of the throttles, and I would hate to mess with them. I haven't greased my ball in the stick because I'm scared of those $$$, even though it would be a huge difference.

I took a mates Joystick apart when his TMS stoppped working. A wire to the switch had come away from the solder. Re-soldered it and bingo it works again. Its pretty tight in there and caution is advised but wouldn't hurt to open up your throttle or stick and check it out. It might be an easy fix.

Right Throttle Wobbles and no Resistence

I lost the Resistence on the right throttle, Increased friction to max now but still, and it's also wobbling, So I took it apart found the right friction rubber pad is no more there (wear out after 6 months of use) Not missing, Did contact TM to order the pads but no reply, It will be about $100 to send the whole thing back one way, Use to mantain my Cougar for 10 years and the f22pro before, Never seen anything like this, Big Disappointment, former pilot here and always loved TM sticks, but not this one, cost me $800 to get it where i am.

Did you ask TM to simply send you the missing part?

I'm pretty sure their QC expects some mistakes of this kind to occur, be solved and reported as such in these forums! Cause, bad service support can ruin any marketing campaign.

I'm no TM related in any way, so, please, tell us how they behave from now on. It's always good to know what to expect in case of trouble.

And here is the end of the story from TM

Well, that's really not a good sign they're sending to the community and I will keep that in mind.

For those who are expecting to attend Le Bourget Meeting at the end of this month, this has to be reported to TM representative as something difficult to swallow for their customers who could not miss your report in these forums.

I once had some issues of the same kind with a monitor arm from The Human Solution with a Gas-spring cylinder and they just sent me 2 spare parts with no charge to France.

I think you should just hang on until you reach the right person to talk to!
