Added a zip file. Dont forget to change the baro pressure for the correct altitude.

Thanks much, I'll be giving this one a try.

WOW! :pilotfly: That was a mess (my approach) :joystick: !! I had to execute a missed approach and go back out to the previous waypoint. Drifted left on finals but had plenty of time to correct (ok...maybe just enuff time) and set down a nice touchdown...but sheeeesh that was actually scary.

Okay next time I'll actually use the ILS....yeah yeah I had it on and set up, but I never once looked at the needles  ... I was too scared to take my eyes off the speed/alt/heading/descent rate..oh and ground cues (water). I think i flew over a mile at 250-300 feet @ 150 knots before I pick up the lights (the most beautiful lights ever!!)

on a real note: I really struggled with keeping a stable flight... could not get my alt/hdg hold to work...:book:

THANKS... This will make a great addition to my training

Thanks all and feedback on the amount of bad weather. I think I put in just the right amount so at the end of approach you get enough time for final corrections. That was my attempt. To fly almost blind but yet get a visual at the last moment for correction.

Have been flying up and down coastline and inlands but cannot see any airfield there anymore??. Neither any ILS signals. Is this a beta 4 issue or is it just me? :\

Where do I input baro pressure ?

below the baralt gauge there is a small knob, twiddle this with the mouse wheel to set the correct pressure QFE? QNH? (inside the alt dial is a small window with numbers, these change as you twiddle the knob, when the ATC says QFE 28 set it to 2800

I just flew it with beta 4 and Batumi AB is there and ILS needles work although it is quite hard to see the runway lights. Not sure if they changed weather effects in beta4? ILS freq is 110.15 and TACAN channel for Batumi is 16X. I don't know if ILS TACAN channel 38Y given in briefing is of any use at all in this sim?...

I've just flown this top training mission 3 times in a row. With 3 safe landings, (the first was a bit long and I nearly ended up on the grass) My first successful instrument only approaches in A10, I feel like I have really accomplished something tonight! However I did notice that the AOA meter got stuck and was no help what so ever.

EDIT: now off to try it with hud in standby mode and no MFCDs

Okay, wow. Bit of a white knuckle ride at the end considering the runway lights nearly never appeared. They came in so dim and dull they might not as well have even been there. I touched down before I could really truly identify an airstrip or the lights. But what a touchdown it was, perfect nearly. If you look at the lighting from the surrounding cities, it is visible from quite a ways out, but the airfield lighting which should be brighter and designed for visibility in such poor conditions doesn't show up at all!

Well, at least I did it despite my confidence saying otherwise and have included the track for your pleasures and to see the airfield lighting, something must be wrong with it.

I didn't use TACAN at all, just ILS on the way in.

ILS Landing at Batumi.trk

Mtuckner Tried your track. Nice landing. Yes in Beta 4 there seems to be more fog. I had less fog or the lights were brighter in earlier beta. Maybe tone down the fog. Original mission you saw the lights brightly the last 30 seconds to landing. I will have to tweak this. Thanks all for the replies and feedback.

Just ran the tweaked version. Seems a piece of cake after the first version. I enjoyed both and gained a lot of confidence I didn't otherwise have. I recommend doing both versions! Thanks much.

What class ILS approach do these airbases have? Decision Height for a Class 1 approach is 200' AGL. Sounds like your 30 seconds time would put you at about a 250' cloud base, or perfect for this mission :)

Two questions. The steering bars work great on the ILS at Batumi in your mission. However, when I fly other missions and come in for a landing at Batumi on a regular day or night without inclement weather, there are no steering bars, only the notch on the left margin to indicate glide path. What decides when the steering bars are operable?

Second question, runway is 13 at Batumi and that usually means I set the course to 130 on the HSI and it is always off a bit. Your 120 course was perfect, that means the runway bearing is off. How is one to know in flight on the way in what course to set if you can't rely on a good lineup from the runway number? How did you come up with 120, any way other than setting it on the ground to know for sure?
