tflash Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Wow, this game is sooooo good; I'm now practicing some JTAC coordinated missions against troops. The whole idea is to get rid of a grouplet of insurgents with one short burst of the roaring Avenger cannon. Incredible how stable this platform is: wind or no wind, you just come in, put the pipper over the target, a short, dry burst and it is gone. I wonder if IRL there is a smell to the cannon afterwards? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
kylania Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I wonder if IRL there is a smell to the cannon afterwards? Pilots have described how the gunpowder gets in the cockpit. Apparently it's quite an experiencing setting off the gun for the first time. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christmas Cheer - A Landing Practice Mission : Beta Paint Schemes : HOTAS Keyboard Map : Bingo Fuel - A DCS A-10C Movie
Bahger Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Is that one of the stock missions? If so, which one?

Gearbox Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 The second instant action mission has a JTAC strike against a convoy. I found that out the hard way after I used up all my stores finishing up the tanks at the previous waypoint.
hassata Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Pilots have described how the gunpowder gets in the cockpit. IIRC, one guy even said his wife knew when he has been playing with the cannon because of the smell. Jealous much :D . [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
mooshim Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Pilots have described how the gunpowder gets in the cockpit. Apparently it's quite an experiencing setting off the gun for the first time. :) This may sound a bit nerdy, but if I'm getting gunpowder --or particulate matter--from my Depleted Uranium rounds into my respiratory system... I'm thinking of suing my employer. At the very least, I'm gonna gargle a bit before I go home to kiss my wife. This issue never occurred to me until now...Isn't there a way to protect our pilots from this? --Wags, get on it, will ya? vrv Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 The wives / girlfriends / prostitutes / afairees can tell when the pilot in question has shot the gun because of the smell of gunpowder, depleted uranium and dead tanks. Spectre_USA Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 You can't be serious! I think they need to make a Air Freshener shaped like a 30 mil and impregnate it with the scent of burnt cordite! I love the smell of burnt cordite in the morning, it is the smell of Victory! (Small nod to Apocalypse Now.) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] A tale of 2 hogs
