BTTW-DratsaB Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Good film ^Way to add to the conversation...actually it's probably better you didn't :music_whistling: Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to Viper again. I finally got round to watching this last night. I quite enjoyed it. Some parts of it made me feel more like it was a reconstruction than actual footage of events. But the guys they are interviewing look the same people in the film so... . The production was very good for this sort of film, they had good mics with them too, some great sounds. The more of these documentaries I watch it just further confirms my (own) opinion that this is an unwinable war. With the big loosers, as always, being the civillians. airea Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 god, ur all so brain washed.... I second that... I have a lot to comment about US invasions in Afganistan or Irak or Vietnam or elsewhere but I have a permament warning for my so called "political rants":) So, I cannot say much... But seriously, think about the current situation in Irak or Afganistan after all "operations of liberation and freedom" of US and find out whether these operations are made for freedom, safety or political interests... For the movie, I did not see and frankly I dont want to see another "hardworking and sacrificing" US soldiers documentary, who are trying to save us from Taliban:) If this post is disturbing or too much political, please delete it...
LARGE Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 At first i also thought the movie will be pure propaganda, but it just shows the situation from the invaders perspective, and the author doesnt try to put his ideas in your head. It rly bothered me though, how they put Bulgarian music in the beginning of the movie and try to pass it for Afgan or w/e. It is a really meaningful song, something close to the national anthem. So thats kind of disturbing. As for the whole "americans liberate us from the bad talibans, iraqis" or whatever i also have much to say but i better stfu...
Renato71 Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 it's not about liberating, its about policing. one ego trip vs another one. one is killing people, and the other one is consuming their identity. Napa Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Ross Kemp in Afghanistan and Ross Kemp Return to Afghanistan (5 ep. each series) are the only documentaries worth seeing about Afghanistan IMHO. It covers everything but politics. And its really interesting to know that Talibans are not just Afghans, they are comprised by Afghans, Iranians, Uzbeks, Tajikistanis, Kyrgistanis, Pakistanis and even Chechens. Its more like a national organization than local. And they'll never stop, one who is not fighting for Jihad can never fully understand the determination of those people. chaotikchiken Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Just saw this documentary a few months ago (recommended it recently in the documentary thread) and honestly think it's one of the best films out there! I've never felt more on the front lines and being part of the experience in Afghanistan all with live fire. Obviously war is not all fun and games and this really shows it all. Not to mention some really sweet Warthog straffe runs!
