Thanks for the video!

I tried again but still the same, though I don't see any significant difference with the video. Got the two messages though, "Keep pulling..." and "Good. Keep a 10°..." only at the end he said it failed after about 105 seconds, almost 3 complete rotations and at about 9000'. I noticed on the Tacview that the EF's A-10C was also spiraling down, but from what you said earlier there is no check on being in sync with his aircraft (to simulate a dogfight) so I suppose it's not a success condition here.

Same with the lazy 8, had two messages I think, last one being "Good. You were level at the mid-point of the lazy eight above the starting altitude.", was right back at 8000' facing 210, and failure message.

I wanted to share the track but DCS crashed - actually it crashed when I tried the updated 06 last time too, not sure whether it's coincidence. I only have the Tacview record but that won't do.

I appreciate your efforts, I think that some feedback on the reason of the failure would definitely help anyone doing this mission, but maybe simply stating the banking angle and/or other important criteria in the document would be enough. I won't try again, I think I've bothered you enough with this ;) ... and spent a lot of time trying too, for now I'll just go on with the rest of the campaign.

Finished TAC15 last night. Question in the spoiler box below.

Was great to watch and listen to all hell breaking loose in the skies :) I nearly had a conniption when all the missile warnings went off!

Really enjoyed that mission and actually refuelled to full in 3 connections, with only a few seconds between each connection, which is a first for me.

One question I have is whether the target waypoints being in mid air (14.8K I think) is to challenge the pilot to think and find the target?

You can just create a waypoint at those coordinates at ground level.

Aye, it's an easy one to work through; I used markpoints instead. Was just wondering was it to challenge the pilot.

Yes absolutely! We don't want these missions too easy or else it will just be another Air Quake.

We want the user to read the briefings, think about the mission in advance, study the flight plan and target briefings (where provided).

You get to decide (for the most part) what weapons to employ when, which wingmen to use to act on which targets. The missions are pretty open ended in that regard.

Do you use your weapons for targets of opportunity or wait for the TIC (Troops In Contact) calls. You will get those choices in missions 19-25.

Another reason why we specifically didn't provide practice missions for the TAC training.

We have an update coming soon to address some of the issues raised earlier in the thread (like the immortal T-55s and the flights getting bunched up before they launch). So far the testing is looking good so we should have that update ready in a day or two.

Maybe a little tweak for the A-10C BFT mission 10: at the beginning the EF gives the new heading to 40 way before the cadet is at level, after which another message triggers and says to level off soon, and then immediately after he's getting already angry because the cadet "is off course". Yes, obviously they haven't reached the first point yet.

Trying to turn early doesn't make it better. IMHO there should be a proper succession of targets to avoid such confusion. I guess that unavoidable remark might have an impact on the qualification score.

I think the UTM coordinates are actually MGRS, from the look of it, the notation is not the same. To be fair, the CDU shows UTM too, so that's probably more appropriate, I was just a little confused seeing the numbers and page / zone codes.

By the way, the 3rd waypoint is funny, regarding TOT :)

EDIT: mission 10, and not 11 as written before, silly me

TAC21: Am I expected to deal with Mig-29s personally or is it a bug? I keep getting shot as soon as I get close to the killbox.

You should try and avoid any dogfights with superior fighters where possible. The F-16s should take care of any air threats so you may have to escape and evade until you hear them target the bandits.

We did just find a major bug in TAC21 in 1.5.3 in that a trigger that spawns many ground units only appears to spawn a small number of them (there were 20 units in the trigger to spawn).

So even if you get through the situation with the MiG's you may have a hard time spotting some targets to shoot at.

We suspect this issue impacts TAC22, TAC23, TAC24 and TAC25 as they all used the same trigger logic.

We have a fix in testing and will update the package soon (we also have other updates to correct the immortal T-55s and the aircraft takeoff issue with the AI).

I expect we will release the update in another day or two once testing is completed.

Man, I must say again, your campaigns are very interesting, a new player will have all the necessary to learn how to fly correctly.

I give full support to your work, through time I will buy all campaigns that you did as a way to encourage you.

Congratulations, Great work!

That feedback is much appreciated but it must also be shared with the many other players, pilots and real military pilots that have given us feedback and input to improve the campaigns and identify issues related to the many game engine updates.

We will continue to share our knowledge and learnings through campaigns like this and appreciate all feedback to make our campaigns the best they can be. :)

TAC19 appears to have issues. The voiceovers on startup run into each other so the next one starts before the first one is finished.

There's also a weird issue where my missiles appear useless. I line up the fourth set of targets as my wingmen are shot down or wounded, lock up AGM65s and fire but no hits. A Tacview replay shows the missiles impacting the ground way beyond the targets.

Make sure you aren't using the simple radio option, or selecting 124.00 during startup.

Regarding the missile issues, are you sure you're getting a lock? The -K especially has a very poor CCD sensor (in DCS at least).

Posted

No simple radios, tuned to 140 for Vaziani at startup.

I'm getting closed gates but the D is very fickle about locking and it took me 3-4 runs to get it to lock, but then it misses anyway.

No, it is aimed at the target (Reticle and target visible in HUD) but then it drifted over and past the target.

Just ran through it again and passed, but lock on with a 65H loadout only happened near to Min Range at about 2.1NM.

Yes, all the Mavs with the CCD sensor have fairly short lock ranges. Care to share the TacView report? Tomorrow afternoon I'll give a look and see if something strange is happening.

Are you using vanilla textures? I'm not sure how the lock function works internally in the game engine, but if it's anything like the TGP the mav may very well be mistaking a noisy spot on the ground as a target.

Unrelated: Sabre-TLA, I just noticed you switched to the new website, or am I mistaken?

We have an update coming for TAC19, TAC20, TAC21 and TAC22 that should correct some issues reported in DCS World 1.5.

TAC23, TAC24 and TAC25 are undergoing testing at the moment but we should be able to release an update for them as well soon.

There have been reported issues with the mavericks (in 2.0 they were crashing the game) so there may be issues in 1.5 as well. We recently completed testing TAC22 and had no problems with the mavericks locking on and killing their targerts (65Ds).

Thanks Sabre, looking forward to TAC20 so do you recommend holding off until the update?

Gliptal, I'll happily share the Tacview report, but it's 117MB. As an aside, I'm using Vanilla textures.

Thanks for your help on this!

Yes we are using the new site. Seems to work well so far.

You could try using a texture mod and see if it solves the issue.

If you can wait another day or two we should have it ready. If you try it now you would likely encounter the same issues reported earlier in the thread.

As soon as Barthek finishes his update I'll be installing his mod.
You can easily use it already, although you'd be stuck with Spring textures even in other seasons. Just copy the textures subfolder three times and change the season in its name to the missing ones.

The clearer texture may very well solve the locking problem.
