I use it, awesome. Still in Beta.

 

 

Very functional, i use a networked (wirelessly) netbook with another monitor on Desktop expansion giving me four monitors in total with my main machine. I like it, and await Beta 6 with baited breath.

It says for "touchscreens"- can you use it with a normal, non-touchscreen monitor?

Also- does it work with WinXP? I noticed it says "limited touchscreen support"- but I would like to use it with the Cougar MFD's in WinXP if possible.

Yes I set my initial screen on a non touchscreen before I bought my to acer touchscreens

I edited my comment while you were responding. I also wanted to know if it will work with Cougar MFD's and WinXP?

Considering it would cost a small fortune to upgrade to Win7, upgrade my computer AND buy all the equipment... so I'm looking to use my existing computer with new flight sim equipment.

i have also got the beta but what im finding is that it doesnt let me use it for any longer than 10mins becuase it sais im not registered.

thing is, you have to be registered to DL it and wait for the confirm email from the guys to give you the link to DL.

is anyone else only getting these 10 min sessions?

I have the Couger MFD's and touch screen monitor. Iam running Win 7 pro with TM Hotas Warhog stick and Helios work great. I will be buying this when its finally released.

Spartan - you have to "order" the beta to get a license key. It's free, but I need the store to track the beta.

...well actually most of the time i just have the team speak window on it or if i'm building panels in helios i have screenshots of the A10 pit on it for reference. It can be used for all kinds of stuff...having lots of monitor real estate outside of games its actually pretty useful.

I see the Helios beta license is "ending" on 12/31/10. Does this mean the beta software will cease working at that time?

Hope not, I have not even tried it yet. Downloaded a couple weeks ago, but trying to finish my pit construction first. Cant really feel like I am in a pit with side by side monitors.

 

Is there a readme file on how to do the networked display?

I found the answer to my question about the beta key expiring here http://www.scsimulations.com/forums/showthread.php?731-My-order-for-Beta-6-has-been-canceled.

In short, they are going to e-mail everyone who has ordered the beta, a new key which will extend the beta license for an additional two weeks. Then they will begin taking pre-orders for the final version due out the end of January. Pre-ordering will get you a license to continue the beta version until the final is release.

Hopefully I paraphrased all that correctly.

Nice setup Paul! You need at least one more big touchscreen on the right and you'd be all set.

Personally, I could never fly with the joystick on the right hand side like that... if it is not in the center, it feels odd to me. Which is why when I put together my PVC cockpit from the plans I bought on E-bay, I had to alter it to add a center joystick. I now use the right-hand platform for the mouse. ;-)
