Ragtag Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) Landed this after a hit by a SAM in operation Cherkessk. Tuff mission. Managed to put out the engine fire and turned it off. Flew all the way back from the target area. Landed with two intact tyres since the third was blown to pieces when i got hit. beers Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 ok, maybe not the most spectacular, but it was difficult to fly home and land. It seemed like a great touch down at first :huh: I had not noticed the lack of wheels on the rear gear until she came to a sudden hault. I guess I left a nice set of gashes in the runway? All NAV systems went off line so was flying without any NAV-aid for approx. 20 minutes before i spotted a airfield. since i landed without airbrakes or flaps, the touchdown was pretty hard and it broke all wheels and ripped of my nose wheel... Google "f-15 one wing" and there's a well documented case of an F-15 landing with one wing. But an A-10? Actually, ED asked USAF to alow them take break one of their Hog's wing and let Wags try land it. Since, fortunately, Wags is still around, it's safe to say you can land A10 with one wing only!
