LastRifleRound Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 PLEASE don't tell me to build my own. I would screw it up for sure. Here's the link to what I'm interested in getting, just want it to be good enough to get good FPS on DCS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227302
MTFDarkEagle Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 You propably will be able to run it, though not at very high settings.. Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Mad Dog 7.62 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Looks like a great deal for $720. I am not familiar with how the sim runs on the Athalon processor, so someone else will have to comment on that, but everything else looks good. Mugenjin Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Whether you get high FPS also depends on the resolution you're intending to run. Anyway looks good enough for med settings.
power5 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I would get this one and upgrade the GPU to a 6850 from the hot deals on http://www.hardforum.com. Site is down right now so can not link it for you. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227267 Will save you $125 instead of getting the $899 one on newegg. EtherealN Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I'm worried about the GTS 450. I've not managed to take a good look at those, so that would be the only worry as far as I'm concerned. Cali Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 That should do ok, I'd get a better video card if you can. You can get a ATI 5770 for around $160 and a nVidia 460/470 for a little more. I have a friend that use to play DCS-10 with a nVidia 260 and it looked stunning. His CPU was a intel that he overclocked to 3.7 I think. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Mugenjin Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Spending 160$ for a 5770 is not worth it since the GTS 450 is pretty much as fast as the 5770.
Cali Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Spending 160$ for a 5770 is not worth it since the GTS 450 is pretty much as fast as the 5770. I found some different prices on both cards. Also can the 450 do more then 1 display without buying another card, no, but the 5770 can. Also I have seen the 5770 for $140 and the 450 for $130. I'd rather have that choice and for $10 difference in price. For a slight advantage in gaming the 5770 has it. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
celticcoho Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 depending on your ultimate monitor setup?? you seem limited to 3 screens, Look at the 5870 eyefinity 6 card!!! 2 gb memory and six screens off of one card!! The PC in the OP already has the GTS 450, so upgrading from a 450, which comes with the PC prebuilt, to a 5770 is not worth 140$ or whatever. Also a 5770 is not strong enough for eyefinity anyway.
Cali Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I see there is no upgrade option, I would look for something that has a better video card in it. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Le0kong Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I don't know what is the situation on the US on these pre-built computers. And i have no idea if the price is right. But i prefer to run away from these like hell if the use is going to be gaming. There's no mention of what motherboard they put on that, the cpu is a quad-core with no L3, the hard-drive(who know if is not one 5200RPM, is going to stutter like hell on something like DCS). About the video card on this one i'm not familiar but if is slower then a HD5770 it needs to be REALLY cheap to be worth. The good thing about doing it yourself, you know what parts you put into it and you can build it cheaper then any of these already built computers. The guy that started the thread said building it himself is a no-go. Although it is very easy to build them, I was a little scared the first computer I built also, but it turned out fine. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
