Wedge Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 (edited) Why bother with wireless headsets if you are using a track clip pro, which then attaches you to the pc with a wire? Is there a wireless track clip available? I have the G935 (wired) for online and comms which work really well. I also have some audio technica (big purple ones... I am sure they have a model number as well Edit: Found them! ATH-AD700) which have amazing sound and a really light and comfortable for offline when the family need to sleep. Arakahn Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 (edited) I use the Logitech H530. The sound quality is very average, but I never use it for the gaming sound. That is why I like USB headsets; they have their own sound chip so I can set my main sound on my LogitechZ505 5.1 speaker system (ancestor of the new Z906), and my voice chat on the headset. The mic sound quality is pretty decent and great for the price. And when I want to use headphones instead for gaming because it is late and I don't want to allienate my neighbors, I connect my audio-technica digital monitors (well they are plugged in tee front panel of my Creative XFi Fatality card, which means they are always plugged and on, with it's own separate volume, and turn off my speakers). http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/headphones/12e12d2eae19de14/index.html I have used it with Shoot voice command software flawlessly. And yes, it is very useful, especially for in-game comms. I have yet to create a simple profile for WH though, which I will do shortly (very simple profile just for the comms, basically 1-10 for the F1-F10 keys and cancel). Edited March 16, 2011 by Arakahn

Yes. The TIR pro clip needs nothing but a 5v source with very low current requirements...only like 20ma or something. It gets this from USB but isn't "talking" to USB. I simply picked up a battery that has a USB plug on it intended to be used as a "spare gas can" for ipods/phones/etc. Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Duracell-Instant-Charger-Compatible-Devices/dp/B0016Y9R6C "Tank! Niggleworth Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Hello all. This'll be my first post on the forum. I use the Turtle Beach PX21 headset that my wife got me for my PS3. Though the sounds are a little on the light side with not much bass, it still sounds better and is more comfortable than my dedicated Logitech headset and the mic has fantastic sound quality. Sawamura Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 I used the Creative Fatal1ty the past 5 years. Excellent headset, but now i want a more high quality sound headset(the Fatal1ty is to much bass weighted). I tested the Logitech G35, but this headset has not even better sound quality as this 30 euro worth Fatal1ty. Also, i checked the new headset from Creative, the Sound Blaster Alpha. This headset is realy bass weighted, you cant get rid of(for me, very annoying when listening to music). Can someone suggest me a good sound quality headset(not bass weighted, no strange sounds, etc..) for a fair price? Otherwise, i will keep using a new Creative Fatal1ty the next 5 years. :D

ZQuickSilverZ Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 I use a Logitech Premium USB Headset 350. It sounds decent. The mic works well. The problem is the comfort. This thing feels like it was designed by someone who's favorite past time is kicking puppies into highway traffic. In about 2 hours your ears will be so sore they will feel like they are on fire. Headsets don't have soundcards. A sound cards job is to process sound information to relieve the processor. Otherwise you have what you call "onboard" sound. Its not a headsets job to process sound. It only acts as the delivery. How would you fit something as large as a soundcard into a headset? Thats a great idea about the battery pack and TIR. Wish I would have thought of that. Good job. Third if you just want a mic you could always go to newegg and do a search. There are tons of wireless mics that use both RF and bluetooth. They obviously come with a transmitter/receiver that connects to the pc. Problem is these are not cost effective. The range from 50 to almost 300 dollars. My guess is the 50 dollar ones are not too good of quality. If you want a mic that is crystal clear i suggest this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836111601 Honestly people can not tell the different between this and the headset on Teamspeak MOST of the time. It's clear. Believe it. I myself use Game Commander 2 (I had no luck with VAC, I found GC2 to be much more responsive and have far fewer mistakes). I would say it has about 98 percent success rate for understanding commands and it is very customizable. (it understood shkval..... right out the box so to speak, no training required) I had great luck using it with a mic, however, lately I wear my TIR more and more (took me while to get used to it so I did not wear it at first) so I don't use the mic much anymore. On using the mic the only question is this. Backfeed through the speaker or command interference from the speakers when using voice command programs. I suggest getting a really good SOUND only headset and using this mic. It will definetly increase your options. I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. ZQuickSilverZ Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Well LawnDart since I do not have that headseat I can't argue. I will say this is the first time I have EVER heard of this. Apparantly from your statement "Only headset I've ever used like this that actually shows up as a separate sound device" this is the first time you have seen it as well. What program shows it as a soundcard? Was it under the hardware manager on the PC? The reason I ask is TS will show my mic and Logitech headset as a sound device (note a sound card and a sound device are NOT the same thing). It also shows my soundcard. But I assure you my mic and headset do NOT have soundcards in them. Not challenging your claim LawnDart I am just trying to figure this out. I checked this product out on newegg before posting this and I did not see anything that stated this headset had a built in sound processor. You sure its not picking up the digital to analogue decoder? To me this makes more sense as all speakers are analogue. There is no such thing as a digital speaker so any digitial signal has to be converted. I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. joey45 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Thing is though the USB headsets don't use the Soundcard per say.. I believe all Logitechs USB headset shows up as a sounddevice That is why I wish there would be an option in DCS to select a different sounddevice for radiochatter. So you could have all coms on the headset and use the speakers for ingame sounds. Well, would also be nice to have the warning sounds on the headset as well, I believe that's the way it is in real world fighters? ОДИН [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
