Novac-185th Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Hi, I'm thinking of buying an Amazon Kindle which is capable of reading PDF files. Has anyone tried the kindle with the A10C PDF manual? I know its in black and white and expensive at £111 but in the long run for reading books and pdf's from several Sim's it may be cheaper in the long run. I just can't read from a pc monitor.....Don't know why. I need paper to take in the info. And kindle reads like paper...........Or so I'm told. Cheers Novac.
Rocky49 Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I have the 6" Kindle, latest generation. The PDF is very hard to read and you need to use the "zoom" function too much...I had the same hope of using the Kindle to access the manual but so far it has not all that easy to use...You can send the PDF to yourself on the Amazon network with the subject line CONVERT so that it is changed into a Kindle format that allows for font change but because the PDF is so large, my service provider doesn't let me send it so I am kind of stuck right now...the 10" would work much better but at over $350 US dollars not really a good option. :( 1 System:Motherboard Asus ROG Strix Z390-E,Asus ROG GeForce RTX 2080Ti OC, GPU, 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 Ram, Intel i9 9900K @ 5 GHz , cooled by NZXT Kraken X52, Acer XB270HU G-Sinc monitor, Windows 10 Pro, Warthog joystick and throttle with wasy extension, VBK Gunfighter Pro and MCG Pro,MFG Rudder, running on a dedicated 1TB Samsung 970 Pro M2 Nvme , Super Wheel Stand Pro, with a HP Reverb G2
AlphaOneSix Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I also have a 6" Kindle and I put the manual on it and it's a pain to read. It looks pretty good in an iPad, though.

MudRat02 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I like the Kindle but its not really suited to this sort of thing. The manual would have to be reconfigured so that you don't have to zoom and whatnot, and ideally would use a format like .mobi. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Flanker35 Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I have read the complete Manual with my iPad during some Business Trips.. It is very nice and very good to read..
Gonzo01 Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) I also use the iPad to read the manuals. The issues is how do you transfer a file that large through email to your iPad. I used The full version of Adobe Acrobat to break up the manual into three separate parts, then i send them to my iPad and click on the icon in the email to load them into iBook. Works like a charm Edited February 17, 2011 by Gonzo01
Runibl Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Recently got the iPad myself, and think it's excellent for reading manuals. Used Itunes to transfer manuals myself, easy as drag and drop. Ooh, and with the right app, it's excellent for map reading. Runi. Rocky49 Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Runibl: Can you give me a step by step on how you got it on your IPAD. It's not clear to me how you transfered it to itune? Runibl Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 (edited) Not at my pc at the moment so can not confirm. But as i recall, all i did was connect the ipad to the pc and open itunes, after making sure it's connected ok, i drag the manual from wherever it was in windows explorer and dropped it on the iPad icon within itunes. Then i could just open up iBooks and find it there in the pdf section. I will have to confirm this at a later time. Edit: Confirmed, just dragged the manual over "Runibl's iPad" icon, and it was put in iBooks pdf shelf. The iPad user guide, that is bookmarked in safari on the iPad also tells how to do it, in the ibooks chapter about syncing: In iTunes, choose "File > Add To Library" then select the pdf file. Connect the iPad to the computer. Select the pdf in the books pane in iTunes. Then sync the iPad. Haven't tried it this way myself yet. Hope this helped. Edited February 17, 2011 by Runibl Runi. Flanker35 Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 to transfer the Manual (and other files) to the iPad i use Dropbox. its free and easy to use.. its a online storage.
Rocky49 Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 the problem with the 10 inch Kindle is the price...$370.00 is way too much for a book reader/PDF reader....For only $30.00 more you can buy an IPAD...that is why I am currently waiting for the IPAD 2 to be rolled out. System:Motherboard Asus ROG Strix Z390-E,Asus ROG GeForce RTX 2080Ti OC, GPU, 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 Ram, Intel i9 9900K @ 5 GHz , cooled by NZXT Kraken X52, Acer XB270HU G-Sinc monitor, Windows 10 Pro, Warthog joystick and throttle with wasy extension, VBK Gunfighter Pro and MCG Pro,MFG Rudder, running on a dedicated 1TB Samsung 970 Pro M2 Nvme , Super Wheel Stand Pro, with a HP Reverb G2
Runibl Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Might go and try out dropbox myself, could be useful. I was very lucky, this monday when one of our shops reopened after some new marketing stunt or something... They offered iPads to a reduced price of 500 kroners (Around 91$), to the first 10 people to come and buy it..... I was number 7 :) Runi. Rocky49 Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Runibl Wow, you don't get a deal like that very often. Good for you. Novac-185th Posted February 19, 2011 Author Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the replies guys. After reading the 1st few replys saying the kindle is not that suitable for PDF's I dropped that idea for the moment. Which is a good thing as my wife works part-time in a library and these Kindle's, ebook readers and Ipads will no doubt put her job at risk. Best keep on her good side Eh? Now I would love an Ipad but there are a few more gadgets on my list before that. No 1 would be the HOTAS warthog, but i don't think I could sneak one of those into the house without questions.... My normal tactic is to take 50% off the price and tell her that! But even so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I managed to get a loan of small laptop which is doing the job fine. I can now read in my favorite place.....Bed. I now find myself at 2:00am waking up with a laptop in my hands instead of a book. DON'T EVEN GO THERE GUYS, JUST DON'T Cheers Novac.
