BiPod Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 :joystick: guys whats the contant warning sound when u start to pull a turn even when you are not at stall speed?? It's a warning that you are close to stalling (even at high speed). From manual: When the aircraft is within 2 angle of attack units of a stall, a steady warning tone is sounded. When the aircraft is 1 angle of attack unit or less of entering a stall, the tone will become chopped. Technically, stalls are based on angle of attack not speed. BiPod.
hreich Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Why is there a beeping sound during take off and after retracting gears? I have to press Ldg gear silence button every time after takeof... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Pilot from Croatia
BiPod Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 To better explain the OP: Stalls occur when the angle of attack becomes too great and the air hits the wing from a low angle. If it is too low, airflow over the wing becomes disrupted and lift collapses causing a "stall". This may be caused by flying too slow OR pulling too hard on the stick causing the nose to rise faster than the TVV (Total Velocity Vector; Aircraft direction of travel) can change. Why is there a beeping sound during take off and after retracting gears? I have to press Ldg gear silence button every time after takeof... This horn just sounds to indicate that the actual gear position is different from the gear lever setting. It's normal, just ignore it :), BiPod. 1
Ryrrar Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I've noticed that this Angle of Attack buzzer sounds more in B4 than any other Beta so far. And I'm still at a loss as to why I can't pull certain turns, when I've seen A-10's in real life pull much much sharper turns. I can't seem to go over 4-5 G's without that dang buzzer going off like crazy. And the past couple of days I've had that buzzer go off constantly when I've been in level flight, no trim, angels 14 and been going 215+ knots...I don't understand it.

Just remember that the A-10 is not fly-by-wire like the F-16. It is up to YOU to pull just the right amount to get best performance. 4-5 G's seems way too much for an efficient A-10 turn. The flight computer won't correct your errors like the F-16. So don't pull too hard or too soft. Practice will get you there;). I'm still getting it wrong sometimes, but I can pull tighter turns now than when I started. IRL pilots do let "that dang buzzer" go off like crazy. It tells you that you are doing it just right. A Continuous tone means maximum (short term) turning performance but you will bleed off speed. Sorry, I don't know about your angels 14 problem. Can't help:( Cheers, BiPod

Zomba Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 In relation to the buzzer going off in level flight at air speeds you wouldn't expect it at, try looking out of your canopy at the wing root area when this happens. There is an automatically deployed slat there on the leading edge that functions to help with aerodynamics under various conditions. Sometimes it gets stuck in the fully deployed position. When this happens the buzzer will sound more often than not due to the abnormal conditions this causes. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not., but in my case at least it happens very rarely. When it does happen that buzzer does your head in until you can find the volume control. I've only ever encountered it in multiplayer flights, but I predominately fly mainly online so this may not mean much. I don't test for bugs, but when I do I do it in production.

Your Pitot heat is not on, so the AOA indicator has iced over and gotten stuck in position. Zomba Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I would never do such a thing as leave the pitot heat off. NEVER!:music_whistling::laugh: I don't test for bugs, but when I do I do it in production.

razorseal Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 when you are making a tight turn, you want it to be at a max AoA. so when you want to make a tight turn, keep the sound beeping. this means you are maxing out that turn. anything more, you will stall

Dont know if you have heard this but your Pitot Heat should be turned on just before taking off so it doesnt overheat and burn up. I have had the constant tone thing happen too... I wonder if it was the Pitot heat or the slats,.... thanks Jeff i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz, 16G 3200 RAM, Nvidia 1080Ti, T16000 HOTAS, TIR5, 75" DLP Monitor
razorseal Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Beeping means that you already are stalling. You want to hear the steady tone to be right on the edge. it's within degrees. you should just be on the edge. I guess it would be steady or beeping, depending on your flight capabilities. in a sim, I don't mind if it's beeping. :D
wickedfastball Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Is there a way to set default volume levels for the stall and max. perf. warning tones? And, is there a general case for setting defaults in the cockpit?
