Using TAD Cursor to set SPI?

Is there a way to use the crosshairs on the TAD when you slew around to geographic areas on the map to put a wedding cake on that spot? That would make things very easy in some circumstances when you want to try and slave your TGP to a geographic area without trying to get the diamond to move around.

 

This would also be a very quick way online (if we could see other unit's SPI's) to designate areas for your group to search with their TGP's etc.

 

Maybe i'm missing it somewhere, but I haven't found a way to do this.. or is it even possible with the actual systems in the A10?

What i've read is that you can only hook symbols on the tad and then set to spi. So when tad is soi you can make a markpoint on the map with Tms right short then set the dial from steerpoints to markpoints or something like that so the markpoints show up on the tad. Hook/spi that.

Slew cursor where you want the SPI to be,

Hit TMS right short to set a mark point,

Switch CDU to Markpoint mode,

TMS Aft Long to set steerpoint as SPI,

Select your markpoint,

China Hat Aft Long to slew TGP to SPI.

In Eddie's explanation it would be slaving TGP to Steerpoint (Markpoint is default Steerpoint,ie SPI as soon as Steerpoint dial is set to Mark).

There still seems to be an intermittent bug where you cant hook and object and make it SPI in the TAD. It works most of the time but its very frustrating when it doesn't work!.
