Hey Shea, I have almost same stick. I'd recommend you build you own profile as you learn the sim. But here is what I use anyway.

robnpat I have the same stick. I use the 6 buttons on the Left as Modifier buttons so that ......

Button 1 = Cannon

Button 2 = Weapon Release

Button 3 = Nvgs

Button 5 = NWS

Button 4 or 6 = China Hat

Edit:- to make it clearer, Buttons 7-12 are on the base of the Joystick, 1-6 are on the stick.

Hat = Slew

Button 7 + Hat = Trim

Button 8 + Hat = Coolie Hat

Button 9 + Hat = DMS

Button 10 + Hat = TMS

Button 12 + Hat = CMS

Button 7 + Button 2 = Master Mode cycle

Button 7 + Button 3 or 4 = Zoom

Button 7 + Button 5 or 6 = Speed Brakes

Button 8 + Button 4 = Autopilot

Button 8 + Button 3 or 5 = Boat Switch

Button 9 + Button 3, 5 or 6 = Pinkie switch

Button 10 + Button 3, 5 or 6 = Mic Switch

Button 12 + Button 2 = CMS Z-axis

This is from memory so I may have left one or two things out.

Let's see, you should map TMS, DMS, Trim Hat, Slew Hat, Coolie Hat... Naw, just kidding. :P

I'd say the most important things to have mapped to the joystick are these, in approximately this order:

1. Trim hat

2. POV Hat for view control (unless you have TrackIR, then you don;t need it on the stick)

3. Slew Hat

4. Master Mode Control Button (for switching among Nav, CCIP, CCRP, and Guns modes)

5. Nosewheel Steering Button (for Nose wheel steering, laser control, air refueling disconnect)

6. Speedbrakes in and out (separate button for each)

7. China Hat forward and back

8. Wheel Brakes

Or so... I'd set my joystick up like that. If you run out of buttons, the rest can be used on the keyboard.

[EDIT] Hahaha, it took me so long to type my response that Nate chimed in before I could finish. Go with his advice! :D

WOW NATE!

Don't suppose you could pull one of these great layouts for the X52Pro out of your hat!

My prob is too many buttons and not knowing what is actually necessary your info helps me with that but still how to do it is the difficult part.

PS. Thanx to you I now have a layout for my 3d extreme pro should I ever need to sub it for my stick.

I use the same stick because my X45 just does not want to work correctly with Win 7. Anyways based off the above posted information I have created a little .doc that sits on my desk and allows me to quickly reference which side button shifts my hat on top of the stick to what mode. Hope that makes sense. Anyways, I do not have the ability to host files online. But I can e-mail you the .doc if you would like to take a look.

Leafer, My Islander friend...

I concur... It's a damn good stick fer the price.--remember, Shea, to give it a healthy deadzone on all axes. (axiseses?)

Leafer,

God knows if they sell these things where you are.

I picture you sitting in the sand, staring at a volleyball. :megalol:

Thanks Nate. I have the same stick as OP and been having a hard time figuring out how to best configure it. This gives me a great starting point.

I'm having the hardest time setting up bindings :(

I can't even tell if they work. I'm trying to bind multiple stick buttons to a single funciton,

for instance I want to setup coolie hat directions to my POV on my stick (the little joystick thing).

So in the Options ---- Controls page, I find "HOTAS Coolie Switch Down". I see my joystick listed in the center column, and double click it. On my joystick, I press down and it says "JOY_BTN_POV1_D" and for Add Modifier "JOY_BTN10"

When I hover over the "HOTAS Coolie Switch Down" now, it says " JOY_BTN_POV1_D + JOY_BTN10 "

However I think by looking at the manual, that command should change the position of my MFCD content, swapping sides.... However in game nothing happens.

I can't seem to get my joystick bindings to work :(

Hi Nate. Any chance you could create a profile for this? I cannot for the life of me figure how to set this stuff up?

Is there an actual key for Coolie hat?
