bob_baer Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Hi guys, can anyone help me on presetting the channels? I select the frequency and press load button. Then I select preset on the radio knob but changing the channel the frequencies don't change and I have to do it manually... thanks
asparagin Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 The frequencies of the preset channels are not shown when you change the channel. You have to know where you saved them (preset 1, preset 2..) Just make sure you set the radio to preset. asparagin Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Thx Mower, I think his problem is with the analog ones though. CarneyUK Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 I just tried this myself (amazing what you learn on the forums) I set the Preset to 1 and changed the freq to ATC and pressed Load, I then changed the Preset to 2 and set the Tanker freq and pressed load. All I did then was set Preset 1 and could talk to ATC and when I switched to Preset 2 could talk to Tanker. Awesome!! "The sky is not the limit.....it's my playground!!" @paraglidecass
chokko Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 is there some sort of trick to this? am yet to have a preset work, i am doing it once both engines are running. Right dial on TK Left dial on MAN Dial in freq and desired preset channel, press load...repeat for other AM freqs Select PRE on left dial. Choose preset on the dial try to contact/tower/whatever using VHF AM switch...no response for any presets. change dial back to MAN, can communicate with whatever i have dialled in manually. I'm following the same sequence and getting the same results as you no reply from the tower. I'm going to change airports to see if that makes any difference, or is it WIP? Mar Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 It works beautifully for me. Did you press load after you selected your preset frequency? Turning the preset dial will not automatically load the frequency. From the shadows of war's past a demon of the air rises from the grave. "Onward to the land of kings—via the sky of aces!"
WarriorX Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 As covered in the Radio Tutorial: Make sure you do not interact with the radios until after the following switches are thrown: BATT-ON INVERTER-STANDBY APU-START APU GEN-ON After the APU GEN is on, then try using the radio's. chokko Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 as covered in earlier post, we were past APU startup with radios working. thanks Mar, that was the only thing missing in E.D.'s flight manual. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Maybe I am missing something, but you stated you did hit the load button, as highlighted in red above...and just for clarity, the load button is not missing from the ED Flight Manual. In fact here is the quote from page 138: To set a Preset Channel, follow these steps: 1. Set the Frequency Mode Dial to the MAN setting. 2. Using the Frequency Selector Knobs, enter the frequency you wish to save as a Preset. 3. Using the Preset Channel Selector Wheel, select the Preset channel that you wish to save the frequency to. 4. Press the Load button. 5. Set the Frequency Mode Dial to the PRE setting. When you now have the radio in PRE mode, the saved frequency of the Preset channel selected will be used. Note that when you select a Preset channel, the frequency tied to that Preset channel will NOT be displayed in the frequency display windows. Only the MAN frequency is displayed there. chokko Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 yes i am pressing load when saving the presets in MAN mode. i was not pressing load when trying to use the preset in PRE mode, which is what i took Mars post to imply [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mirtma Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I've noticed, that sometimes, when selecting saved freq. and then calling that freq., text for selecting message (upper right) isn't bright white, but is dimmed (like there is not set to right freq.). But pressing Fx (F1, F2, ...) button calls anyway. And that was bothering me - I thought that saving frequencies doesn't work (because of dimmed text). Irregular programming Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 yes i am pressing load when saving the presets in MAN mode. i was not pressing load when trying to use the preset in PRE mode, which is what i took Mars post to imply I have never had to do this, the presets load automatically for me by just turning the dial.
chokko Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 yep, just sat in my cockpit...didnt help. can contact anything i want on MAN mode, as soon as i select PRE...nothing [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CrashEd Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) ^^ Ditto. I've never had the presets working. Ironically it's probably the easiest system on the whole plane lol! I've followed every radio tutorial on this forum ;) I must be doing something fundamentally wrong (yes, I have APU power etc). It'll be one of those head-slapping moments if I ever finally get it to work, I'm sure of it! Edited March 18, 2011 by CrashEd
chokko Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 ok, finally got several presets to work in flight, courtesy of one of my MP flying mates. you've got to do the entering of everything SLOOOOWWWWWWWWW i.e. set the freq, pause, select the preset you want to save to on dial, pause, press load, pause, repeat for next freq if u do it all quick...doesn't seem to save beertime to celebrate [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Furia Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Thanks for the Tip Chokko. Me and my colleagues have been unable to use the Preset frequencies since Final Release. It worked beautifully in the previous Betas and we made extensive use of them so you can say we are able to to use it, but since Final release and also with the latest patch, we have been unable to use them. I will try the "SLOW" mode and hope that it works. When you say "PAUSE" in your post. How long is this supposed to be. 10 secs? 30 secs? 1 minute ? Thanks!! chokko Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 i did pause of 3-4secs but i now think thats not the solution, as it didnt work in next mission. what did get it to work was: turn radio on with right mouse button so it goes straight to TK, not DN first then TK. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Furia Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I always turn it on with right mouse button going directly to TK instead DF, but it does not work for me. It is a pity since it worked real nice and easy before the final release. :( I hope they fix it [sIGPIC]http://menorca.infotelecom.es/~raulurbina/ESA/banner_furia.png[/sIGPIC]
