Vekkinho Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 some of them could be defected active soldiers, but it is not something that is unexpected in countries with conscription type army. Some of them could be mercenaries from Egypt, Chad and Tunis...In some of the videos we can see rebels dressed in a 1991 Desert Storm outfits (check the guy in the background): Pretty uncommon for any defecting Libyan soldiers! Shaman Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Okey, question though. How come plane end up this way if they both ejected looking pretty much "in shape" instead of being ripped into pieces and engines lying around. It reminds me of flat crashed Serbian Fulcrum after it was shot down - strange too. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer

You can also see wreckage was skidding down the grass field, it's not alligned with plane of motion! I don't buy it. I mean there are two crew members. One of them ejected first to reduce weight, furthering damaging the plane and shifting center of weight while the other one had big ego and decided to crash land (save? lol) the plane in rough terrain, skid around only to ejected at 0-0 and then was running around with gun? Only in Hollywood they do this...:smilewink: If the plane was controllable enough to allow crash landing why wouldn't they continue flying over the sea and eject then or even try to land in Malta? Since pilots got separated by large distance they had to eject at significant altitude. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer

Alfa Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Have to say, the French and their hardware have been impressive so far. That carrier was undergoing some sort of maintenance when the call came. because of budget cuts we made the choice to have a smaller army but 100% operational and very sophisticated A little contradictory there jpm :D Exactly in regards to aircraft carriers, a "smaller force" of only one vessel makes it virtually impossible for it to be 100% operational :) . For that you need at least two(preferably three). JJ

F-15 Eagle: 104 kills to 1 loss. As far I recall F-15E was down previously due to enemy fire. It is F-15C that is being advertised with its kill-ratio. Edit: Wikipedia: During the 1991 Gulf War two F-15E Strike Eagles were shot down by ground fire, one on January 18 (88-1689) and the other on January 19 (88-1692). The crew of the first plane were killed, the crew of the second were taken prisoner.
