Excellent

I will do all the testing if need be...

I'll install and setup the tablet for development when I get home.

Also is C# different from C and C++?

I've been using HawgTouch for my MFCD's, exported to my second monitor. They work great! I was thinking about adding a few gauges since I have some space under the MFCD's.

Is it possible to export just a certain gauge (like Flaps), or do you need to add the entire pack? I tried adding one gauge in my existing profile, but it doesn't appear. I loaded the 1.5 features file, and saw that they are bunched together as "Flight Inst" and "Engine Inst" and that each set moves together.

Thanks!

And while I'm asking questions, how do I export data to the gauges? I have a second monitor with the Flight Instruments from HawgTouch, but don't understand what I need to change to give it the data.

I have Data Export Enabled.

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: It works fine on my main display. But the gauges on my second monitor don't do anything.

kharne,

You can display individual gauges or multiple, it's fully customizable. To do that you will need to edit the XML file (your profile).

If you look at it, I think the general structure is pretty simple to understand. If you are having issues, post up your profile here and tell me what you want to achieve, I'll fix it up for you :)

For the Data Export to work, you will need to enable Data Export in HawgTouch and make sure the gauges you have put in your profile are datalinked with the DataImportID property in the XML.

It's different in many ways. It's easier to write code in C# and the language provides alot of tools and helpers that make the programming job less of a struggle and more of a drawing process. At least for me :)

When I code in C++, It's like smacking my head against the wall. Even after almost 8 years of experience, C++ provides alot of challenge :)

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, but I can't get any gauges to show up on my second monitor. Right now I have the MFCD's on my second monitor. I have the UFD as well, but I haven't programmed it yet so it doesn't really do anything. I wanted to just add one gauge to see how it worked. I tried cutting/pasting one gauge from the features file, but it didn't appear.

Here's my profile with the MFCD's. I renamed to a txt file because it wouldn't let me attach an XML. Can you just add one gauge to me, below the right MFCD? Something like the flaps gauge or fan speed or anything. Then I should be able to customize it from there (I hope!)

But heck I have no idea where to even begin :P

Can someone here chime and explain this to me?

I used someone's profile and put the Caution Panel on my second monitor, and it works fine. Their original file had gauges to the right of it, and the entire thing was on my main display.

When I moved the entire panel to my second monitor by changing the X/Y co-ordinates, I lost the gauges (just black space where they were), presumably because I didn't change each gauge with it. But when I tried moving a few gauges to the new space, they still don't show up.

Is there something I have to do to get to appear on my second monitor? I can only get gauges to work on my main display. I found someone else's profile that had the gauges on my second monitor by default, and they don't work either. Just white or black spaces where they should be.

This seems VERY odd. If you only changed the gauges X/Y and nothing else then there is no reason why they shouldn't work. Especially if they DO work on the main screen.

What kind of hardware are you using? Monitor setup? OS?

I'm using Windows 7, i5 2500k, 8 GB RAM, GTX 570. My main monitor is a HP 24" and I have a 19" BenQ to the right for my MFCD's. The MFCD's work fine, and I did the Caution Panel last night with no problem.

All the gauges/instruments (like in the 1.5 features file) work IF they start on my main display. But If I drag them to the right monitor, they don't display any data. If I change the x/y to put them on the right monitor at startup, the gauges don't appear when I load the .xml file.

Bump for help! Does anyone have an idea why my gauges wouldn't work on my second monitor? It's not the profile... I'm using several which other people have confirmed as working, and I've also tried a working main-monitor profile and simply moving them to the second monitor.

It's like it can't send the information to my second monitor or something.

EDIT:

GOT IT! I wasn't using an Aero Theme in Windows 7. I was reading about how it affects FPS rates, and decided to change it and try HawgTouch. Worked like a charm! Sure wish I had thought about that earlier. Shame I wasted a while editing my profiles because I thought I was doing something wrong in them! Now to fill in the blank space on my second monitor....

Has anyone setup the MFCD Day/Night/Off button in Hawgtouch?

Not yet I think. But it should not be to hard with any existing profiles.

Does anyone have a profile they can share that has the radio switches already in place? I'd like to add a panel with them, but before I put the time into I figured I would ask :) Thanks!

...also, is it possible in future to define the tab window to display vertically instead of horizontally (user preference), to benefit those with small usb monitors in wide orientation and have spare vertical space at the RHS of the screen?

@ClearDark; Hope all is well...

I was hoping, if you have not already implemented it into HT1.6, if you were going to add/address the above issue. And since no one replied to “chokko” question on having a user preference and or the ability to manually have the tabs display vertically. It would be nice for us who use small touch screens in landscape mode to be able to have the ability to display the tab buttons vertically on either the left or right edge of the display instead of horizontally. And while I’m at it, have the ability to choose to have the tab buttons go up or down from the power off/shut down button, and also the ability to resize them . . . In my case I would like to adjust the size to make them smaller to take up less space.

If anyone else knows a way to accomplish this in 1.5, please let us know . . . thanks.

Love your work, you are supremely talented and have contributed the most in way of interacting with DCS A-10C flight simulator [iMHO], and can’t wait for HT1.6 to be released!

I'm still here :)

HawgTouch isn't dead. It's at a very stable place now.

I was contemplating lately about the possibilities of extending HawgTouch to FC2/3 and also BS2 along with an updated gauge pack.

The amount of worked involved would be IMMENSE, having to move out by the end of the month and so many more obligations at work it looks like this project will be going slowly and slowly with updates coming in every week or so.

I have version 1.6 ready but I cannot release it as I feel it will complicate alot of things for current users. Also it seems a bit buggy so I'll just hold up on that version until something more stable comes out.

By the way, if ANYONE here is capable of continuing to devote to the HawgTouch project, I will release the FULL source code including the Gauge Pack source/materials for ANYONE who wishes to put more work into it.

HawgTouch is written in C# (.NET 4.0) and uses WPF Presentation Core for gauges.

Thanks for the kind words. I might release a patch that addresses those little issues, along with some more fixes and small additions that will give you guys more options to customize HawgTouch layout.

If there's ANYTHING special you want included, post it here and I'll see how difficult it will be to incorporate. I will release a 1.5 patch with those features within the next 2 weeks!

Modifier keys not reaching DCS-A10

I have a strange problem with HawgTouch. The only modifier keys that reach DCS-A10 are the LSHIFT and LCONTROL keys.

I use AirDisplay with an Android tablet as touch screen, Aero is disabled. HawgTouch v1.5, DCS-A10 v1.1.1.1

I tried running both HawgTouch and DCS-A10 as admin or neither of them.

When testing with TARGETs keyboard analyzer, only RSHIFT is not showing up. All the other modifier keys show up in the analyzer.

Does anyone know how to remedy this?

Just found this thread and was wondering if there is a manual on how to install and set up Hawg Touch? I"m looking to set up a fuel gauge on the main screen on the right. I"ve read through about 10 pages of this thread and was hoping there is a guide somewhere.

Its possible to launch Hawg Touch from command line with already loaded profile, without starting GUI?

For example:

hawgtouch.exe profile.xml

I want to start Hawg Touch with my data export app, when sim is starting. Profile select GUI is simply not necessary here.
