Mule Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 I'm thinking about getting Matrox TripleHead2Go to run DCS A-10C (i have 3 22" monitors) does anyone know if you can run 3 monitors of one of the latest Nvidia cards and just do the same job without having to get Matrox TripleHead2Go? I'm not to interested in the 3d aspect of the Nvidia cards but have heard you can still get panoramic views with the latest cards on 3 monitors. I can't seem to find much evidence to support this. I have fired off he same question over at the Nvidia forums but it is as dead as door nails over there. I have also contacted Matrox but inevitably got no reply. Can anyone help? DayGlow Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 For Nvidia you need to run 2 cards in sli to get 3 screens. Ati requires only one card. TH2G is resolution limited. http://www.widescreengamingforum.com is a great resource "It takes a big man to admit he is wrong...I'm not a big man" Chevy Chase, Fletch Lives 5800X3D - 64gb ram - RTX3080 - Windows 11

BHawthorne Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 (edited) Also, just to clarify, Matrox TH2G is limited to 60hz use. NVIDIA 3D Vision Surround requires 100hz at the minimum and 120hz standard. So you couldn't use a single NVIDIA card with a TH2G and do 3D Vision Surround. If you really want to do NVIDIA + stereoscopic 3D shutter glasses, it's going to require two 200, 400 or 500-series cards in SLI mode. Check their website for a complete listing of compatible cards. Note the only real exception to this 2-card rule is the GTX590. It does SLI on-board and has 3 functional ports out. Edited April 17, 2011 by BHawthorne
WynnTTr Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Just get one 6950 or 6970 and one dp active adaptor and you're set for 3 monitor eyefinity goodness. I've got a 6950 and running my games in 5760x1080 - DCS A-10, BS, RoF, CloD, DA2, Shogun, X3:TC. The only one of my games this single card can't run in eyefinity is FSX. PS: Yes, I know I've got a lot on my list but it caters for every type of gaming mood I'm in.
BHawthorne Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 He mentions he wants 3D in his topic. If 3D is irrelevant I'd just pick up two GTX570 or two 6950. Either will do you good.
Scooternutz Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I run a TH2G Digital on one GTX-570 with three 24s. I also run one 23 inch touch screen. Four in all on one card. I get 45fps plus in A-10 with everything maxed. [sIGPIC]https://drive.google.com/file/d/16rUBmmJR7A3YGZVGPGskxG1XtvulGojJ/view?usp=sharing[/sIGPIC]

If you're doing two cards it comes down to a matter of preference but I'd want at least 2Gb VRAM to deal out the eyecandy when it comes to big three monitor resolutions.

No, merely responding to the topic title where he clearly shows "Nvidia 3D". What about softTH ? 3 immediate reasons why it's not preferable to a hardware solution... #1: output latency. The overhead required to do SoftTH adds latency into the display response time. #2: manual text configuration for all games. There is no self-contained user interface for SoftTH. You're also limited it whatever community support if you have configuration issues. #3: universal compatibility. SoftTH must be manually injected into any game you play. It's also limited to DX9, so your compatability is not guaranteed. Edited April 18, 2011 by BHawthorne
WynnTTr Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 No, merely responding to the topic title where he clearly shows "Nvidia 3D". But then you misread the whole of his post? It's clear that he was implying he wanted the three screen working and that he's "not too interested in the 3D" aspect of it all - he jsut wants the multi screen setup. It's obvious he made a mistake or just wasn't sure about the name of the Nvidia multi screen setup. We all know that T2GO is only a multi-screen setup and that's basically what he was after, which multi screen setup to go for.
PeterP Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 (edited) This #3: universal compatibility. SoftTH must be manually injected into any game you play. It's also limited to DX9, so your compatibility is not guaranteed. I'm very convinced that Kegetys will ad further DirectX support. Looking at the new SoftTH 2.0.5 config I'm very pleased to see this line: dllPathD3D11=autoThis gives me much hope that SoftTH will work with DirectX 11 in the future. Yes - configuring SoftTH for a novice is like - sorry, I cant say this in public - but, I'm out of the woods' when I see a softth config I know how the rendered image will look... - that doesn't mean that I don't prefer a GUI or and I don't want to say that everybody should have develop this ability. But most important is that SoftTh is freeware (I highly recommend to Donate if you are happy with the free use of SoftTH) and offers much more functionality than nVidea/ATI want to deliver right out of the box. Choosing the right components is also very important... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=72006 Edited April 19, 2011 by PeterP
Mule Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 Many thanks for all the info. Just getting the chance to get a half descent system. These are rare opportunities so trying to do something a little different. I use my pc mostly for flying so the 3 monitor thing seems really appealing. Fighter Pilot Podcast.

If it was so obvious I would have posted something different directed at explaining simple non-stereoscopic 3D options and omiting anything to do with stereoscopic 3D. Your post is confrontational and not doing anything to address the original topic. :chair: Multi-display options are: AMD Eyefinity NVIDIA Surround Matrox GXM/TH2G/DH2G SoftTH MView The simplest solution is just to go read up in detail on WSGF. It's where the best source is for information regarding multi-display gaming is located. Edited April 19, 2011 by BHawthorne
