bunraku Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Any idea why my planes moves after engine startup? Do you have to have your wheelbrake on the whole time? I keep having to reset my alignment due to this movement.
sobek Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 The engines produce thrust even at idle speed. If your plane is configured to low weight or there is some wind or both, this can cause the plane to start rolling. As there currently are no wheel chocks in the game, you have to apply constant wheel brakes to counter this. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

shu77 Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I've been doing a lot of flying on regional airlines recently, everytime I see the pilot of the jetstream do the 'chocks away' hand signal it makes me smile. Loz Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Another method As I submitted to the other thread on this, another way to stop the movement that has worked for me is to apply the wheelbrakes, use the rudder to apply full pedal one way or the other, hold it there and then disengage the nosewheel steering. Now when you release the brakes the angled off nosewheel stops you moving. At least it did at the weight that I tried it. Maybe at lighter weight it wouldn't. __________________ i9 9900x at 5.1 Ghz // ASUS ROG Maximus XI Formula EK Bloc // 64Gb Corsair Vengence 3600Mhz DDR4 Ram // Gigabyte Aorus 3090 Watercooled block//Samsung SM951 M2 x4 SSD // Windows 10 64 Bit //48inch LG48 @ 3840x2160 120Hz//Asus ROG Swift PG35VQ 3440 x 14440 144Hz // TM Warthog HOTAS (Ser. bluepilot76 Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Loz, Sounds like a good idea, I will try that. Sorry if a bit of RTFM will help this, but if you have moved a bit, how do you know if you need to start the alignment again? Technical Specs: Asus G73JW gaming laptop... i7-740QM 1.73GHz ... Frogfoot1606687865 Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Also if you apply full brakes, then pause the sim, release the brakes when paused and finaly unpause the sim the brakes will stay on until you touch them again. LordWolf Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 If this happens, i usualy just turn on the emergency breaks knoff (on the left), and put it back when i'm ready to taxy
hassata Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 It's not an e-brake like in a car. It just allows the right hydraulic system to power the brakes in case of a failure. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RogueRunner Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 yip, ie it will do bugger all to stop the aircraft from moving :D Hopefully we will have a chocks option in our not too distant future. With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.
Madman777 Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I engage nose-wheel steering almost immediately upon startup and my Warthog doesn't move anymore. I was pissing me off at one point. :-) i7-12700k, 32GB Ram, RTX 3060 12GB, TrackIR 5, Lots of SSD Space, etc etc DCS World - All the cool modules

Very OT, but "Jetstream" immediately made me think of the PMDG J-41 I used to fly in FSX :). Nice aircraft, but very difficult to fly when being used to Boeing 737s! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
