Any idea why my planes moves after engine startup? Do you have to have your wheelbrake on the whole time? I keep having to reset my alignment due to this movement.

The engines produce thrust even at idle speed. If your plane is configured to low weight or there is some wind or both, this can cause the plane to start rolling. As there currently are no wheel chocks in the game, you have to apply constant wheel brakes to counter this.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

I've been doing a lot of flying on regional airlines recently, everytime I see the pilot of the jetstream do the 'chocks away' hand signal it makes me smile.

Another method

As I submitted to the other thread on this, another way to stop the movement that has worked for me is to apply the wheelbrakes, use the rudder to apply full pedal one way or the other, hold it there and then disengage the nosewheel steering. Now when you release the brakes the angled off nosewheel stops you moving.

At least it did at the weight that I tried it.

Maybe at lighter weight it wouldn't.

Loz,

Sounds like a good idea, I will try that.

Sorry if a bit of RTFM will help this, but if you have moved a bit, how do you know if you need to start the alignment again?

Also if you apply full brakes, then pause the sim, release the brakes when paused and finaly unpause the sim the brakes will stay on until you touch them again. (Not very realistic I know but more comfortable than pressing the pedals for 8 mins.)

yip, ie it will do bugger all to stop the aircraft from moving :D

Hopefully we will have a chocks option in our not too distant future.

With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.

I engage nose-wheel steering almost immediately upon startup and my Warthog doesn't move anymore. I was pissing me off at one point. :-)

Very OT, but "Jetstream" immediately made me think of the PMDG J-41 I used to fly in FSX :). Nice aircraft, but very difficult to fly when being used to Boeing 737s!
