JEFX Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Please, can anyone explain how '' taskin targets to other SADL aircraft'' works? or perhaps that is part of what was removed??? I still see in the current manual, p 319 : hostile units : the following info is displayed when you hook a hostile unit.. ?? what kind of hostile unit can you see and hook on the TAD??? Another question : where in the ME do we set the GROUP ID?? or is it something that has to be done in the air, in the MFCD only? thanks JF [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... Frederf Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 You hook the point you want to send then you hook the aircraft you want to send to and then there's a "SEND" OSB on the TAD page. None of the hostile unit symbol stuff is implemented (yet?) The capability might exist but if that's the case no such symbols are generated. I think group ID is determined by in what order the group was created or what order the EPLRS tag was set to on. I've seen the player be group 3,4,5,6 probably because it was the 3rd-6th group placed. Just a hunch.

True, it is not yet implemented. ED have not said whether it will be in the future. One hopes so. Steve Davies https://www.10percenttrue.com
jazjar Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 This is interesting, in a previous manual, it was remaoved, then, now, in this one, It's back in, but there had never been any in-game representation of this. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Are you sure? I don't think it was re-added. I don't see it in my manual (Steam 1.1.0.7) Pg 316-317 right? JEFX Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 Thanks for the replies... Frederf, it doesnt seem to be working... I tried to do what you suggest and it didnt work. By the way it is the reverse of what is stated p. 319 of the manual, here it is : Tasking targets to other SADL Aircraft. In addition to receiving Target Assignments from JTAC and other SADL-equipped aircraft, you can also assign targets to other SADL-equipped aircraft. This is done through a combination of using the SPI and active hooking. To create a Target Assignment: Actively hook the SADL-equipped aircraft you wish to send the Target Assignment to and press the SEND OSB. Upon doing so, the network identification (XX-XX) of the hooked aircraft appears below the SEND label. Set the SPI to the location of the TAD symbol that you wish to assign as the target. You do not need to be broadcasting SPI to do this. This will set the target location and be visible on the recipient aircraft’s TAD. With the recipient and target set, press the SEND OSB a second time to send the Target Assignment. Now here is the scenario for the enclosed track file SADL not working.trk : I am HAWG11 heading for a trio of trucks, on a small penninsulae and there is another A-10C, different flight ENFIELD11, headed away from this situation. I figured that if my request to tasking it to attack my SPI is going to work, I will see it turn back towards the trucks. I fly towards it and bring up my TGP, slew around to find the trucks and once they are locked, I make them SPI. In my TAD, I try both ways, hooking the SPI first and then the ENFIELD A-10C and, yes, there is a Network indication that appears below the SEND button. I press SEND but nothing happens... I tried the other way around, pressing SEND after hooking the ENFIELD A-10 and then hooking my SPI, but there is no DATA that appears below the word SEND when I do this in second??? Is there something I am doing wrong, or is it a BUG??? thanks JF [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] In DCS I fly jets with thousands of pounds of thrust... In real life I fly a humble Cessna Hawx XP II with 210 HP :D

sobek Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 True, it is not yet implemented. ED have not said whether it will be in the future. One hopes so. AFAIK Olgerd has said that for that functionality, there would have to be SADL/Link16 gateways, which are not in the game. I think there is a fair possibility we might see that at some point, maybe if a Link16 A/C ever makes it into the game. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! By the way it is the reverse of what is stated I don't doubt it. I can never remember which one you do first. The AI I'm pretty sure doesn't understand the message system (hook A, hook B, send) method. You have no commands outside your group anyway. JTAC will send from 9999 to 0101 at a certain point during CAS tasking and you can use it for multiplayer human-to-human (assuming it's working in whatever build you're using) but the AI won't send you a love not nor will it care if you send one to him.
