I love my Thrustmaster Elite rudder pedals. I plan to put in the Hall Sensor kit, and according to Ron at the CubPilot website there will be a way to convert them for use with USB.

I've been using my HS+ modded Elites with the HOTAS Warthog. Unfortunately they connect through the HOTAS Cougar base, so having USB would be nice... however, the benefit of using the Cougar base is that the rudders show up directly in TARGET along with the rest of your TM gear.

Yep, lawndart, without this you get a problem with games that doesn t accept multiples USB controler.

I m still asking myself what it would have costed to TM to put a USB plug in the warthog set.

Marder,

All these major rudder pedal - CH, Saitek, Logitech, Simped, and even Russian VKB have these center detent since they use the same spring principle. So buy new is not solution.

If you dont desire detent modify your actual CH.

See in this video how open pedal base - is ease.

Analise how springs work and you find how ease is remove the center detent.

Here the guy describe how remove:

Maybee after this you face some oscilation in center...

If you absolute need a rudder pedal with no center detent go to Elite with pneumatic dampening:

Not cheap.

Digging up old threads.

Anybody found a way to increase the tension of the Saitek Pro Combat pedals, either by replacing the springs or some other way? I just got mine and I found the toe brakes way too soft, almost no feedback on the feet when wearing shoes, making it too difficult to apply symmetric pressure.

Thanks PeterP for the tutorial on how to remove the detent, I will consider doing it.

This MOD is for Tm car racing pedals, but maybe give you ideas. :)

Conical rubber pieces under brakes pedal.

Other is use R/C racing car dampers.

Thank you Sokol, but I don't think it's going to work because the pedals still need to move forward and backward.

I guess one day I will disassemble to find out how the toe brakes are spring loaded and try to find a harder spring.

You need put the rubber block, damper... under foot rest (brake), not in rudder axis. :)

But you will only figure this and how if disassemble the foot rest.

Caution with harder springs because if the spring support levers was not tick can broke with additional new spring weight.

I see cases in what the levers that support rudder axis spring broken.

For CH I do not recommend removing the centering springs... at least with A-10C.. If you want to use both legs pressured at all times for a helo, that is another story.

I recommend for UH-1H komodo sim rudder (replica UH-1H).. just can't imagine stepping on that barefooted or with a sock... probably have to wear sneakers...

Just a word of caution: my new Saitek Pro Combat pedals came faulty from factory. I am in the process to have them repair/replaced/I don't know what yet.

The toe brakes work very asymmetrically and according to Saitek's support, it is a defective unit. Overall they look very sturdy and nice, but because of the brake issue I cannot really recommend them YET. Let's see how complicated is to get them replaced.

I have owned Saitek Combat Pedals for 1.5 years now and they still work as new. They are pretty pricey, but they were the only ones i was interested in. They are very comfortable and ergonomic to use, the action is smooth (but it gets dirty easily which makes it unsmooth for fine adjustments). The weakest link are the toe brakes, they are accurate but they have very light feel combined with short-ish travel. They do their job though.
