Hi:

I'm a system engineer student, A friend of mine is doing his thesis on simulating a Mi-17 and he is not as fluent in english as I, and to make the history short he wans to know is there is some info(thesis, book, paper, articles anything is useful :)) on Helicopter dynamics's it doesn't matter that the info is in russian or english, or you guys can give to him some direction in were to find info.

Thanks in before.

I would suggest PMing AlphaOneSix. He works/worked with Mi-17's :)

I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

thanks GGTharos if you know other sources that would be great also if you could tell thous guys of the tread that also would be nice.

I have a flash-based instructional program for the Mi-17 (actually Mi-171). It's mostly about the systems, but there is also some instruction on physics (mostly specific to Mi-17) and it includes quite a bit of the flight manual information. I'll upload it to a location where you can download, but it will take an hour or so. I'll let you know the URL when it's done.

I'm not in the University now, so when I speak with my friend I will tell you, Also you don't have some more specific about the dynamic of helicopters and the implementation it doesn't have to be of the mi-17.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info.

Try the following site, its focus is on helicopter aerodynamics though.

http://www.dynamicflight.com/ <<main site

http://www.dynamicflight.com/aerodynamics/ <<Aerodynamics

http://www.dynamicflight.com/flight_maneuvers/ <<Flight maneuvers how to do them and most common mistakes.

Hopefully you find the above links useful.

If he has any specific questions about helicopters in general feel free to PM me.

By now i have about 3 years worth of hands on experience on the S76B, EC155B1 and the AW139. Also worked a bit on the S61N.

This is what I learned with:

http://www.amazon.com/Principles-Helicopter-Flight-Training-Manuals/dp/1560272171

Had a lot of useful theory with calculations on rotary winged flight.

Found this site: http://www.helicoptersonly.com/contents/en-us/d2.html

It has a lot of similar manuals as well as type a/c manuals from the R22 to the B206.

EDIT: AlphaOneSix I would be very interested in tech and flight manuals for the MI-17 too!

??? could you elaborate?

Loved working on it. You also worked on the 61???

Coworkers of mine that used to work on S-61 loved them, too, but they seem to have been more maintenance intensive than some newer aircraft. Also, they apparently share the Mi-17's love of grease. I have never touched an S-61.

Thanks for all the info if you happen to come across with something more physic oriented that would also be great and AlphaOneSix you can post the info whenever you want I already told to my friend.

True, they are quite intensive in the maintenance program, and that was whit vastly extended maintenance intervals approved by local CAA and Sikorsky.

Though, most things are relative easy and straight forward jobs whit easy and quick access. Generators and other consumers on the back of the MGB being an exception.

And yes, you will need a couple of grease monkeys.......

On the AW139 for example, maintenance is indeed less, but you spend hours getting out and putting back in screws from panels for literally 5 mins worth of inspection.

BTW, sorry for the slight offtopic chat were having here.

A team mate of me found these clips, very interesting!

I've already seen the first one, but it still amazes me how the blades can have such long life cycles when they are thrown around like that all the time.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.
