power5 Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 If Pakistan is our allies why would they give our secrets away? Should have just carpet bombed all of Pakistan once we heard that Bin Laden was there. I think the giant super choppers are not the basis of this stealth chopper. They are too big. Size of the tail boom does not look to be the correct scale for something the size of the S-92. Also external travel tanks do not need to be stealth. They can be dropped before getting to the stealth area. Door gunners would hurt stealth too so I doubt it would be equipped with them. Also doubt they would just through some stealth stuff on a black hawk without thinking to upgrade the engines somehow. Not like they just hammered this thing together the night before and just said, "good enough". That is what Area 51 is for. Flight testing these things without anyone seeing them. Succellus Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Who said about super choppers, the BH stealth does the more sense, at least to me. Of course they are giving it back to US, it would help the donation US does to Pakistan if they gave it to Moscou or China for example. EtherealN Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 do to the facts i read, i doupt that this helo is based on some black hawk. the black hawk is only able to carry 14 people. now we take into the equation the increased weight of stealth tech. we have 4 crew members, 2 pilots and 2 doorgunners. when we have some 500pounds+ for the stealth tech, then there are only 6 seats for a speacial forces team like delta or seals. YF-17 F/A-18 Because scaling things up is impossible. :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
EtherealN Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 If Pakistan is our allies why would they give our secrets away? Should have just carpet bombed all of Pakistan once we heard that Bin Laden was there. Sorry, but that's just stupid. Plain and simple. I'm assuming you were having a moment of sarcasm without taking a moment to think. As for why they'd "give your secrets away"... Self-interest? The Pakistani have several defense projects in common with the Chinese, and if they scoop something but do not have the technical expertise to exploit it, co-operating with the Chinese on it might in the end get them access to technology that the US is not willing to sell. Extremely simple. ;) If an F-22 crashed in Korea or Japan, you bet your ass they would think really really hard about possible ways of securing the wreckage for their own study, allies or not. It's always better to have the technology yourself instead of buying downgraded foreign equipment. nscode Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Just how do you think USAF got chances like these MiG-15 defected to Yugoslavia. It was shiped in parts to US, tested, returned to Yugoslavia and then to its owner. Just like now Pakistan is returning the tail after it has been photographed, measured, and material samples taken. No reason to keep the whole thing ;) Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.
Frostiken Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Trust me, the SEALs would have gone through numerous 'what-if's, one of which was bound to be loosing a Helo. The fact that they had enough explosives to completely obliterate the airframe means they were. Alternatively, there's speculation that a drone hit it with a missile, which isn't too outrageous a claim all things considered. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I have no doubt that Korea would sell us out though. Did not know we were allies. Why shouldnt we spend my tax dollars on helping them out. A defecting pilot is a bit different than an ally selling our secrets. I guess if we find out that the pakistan army base a couple blocks from Osama's house was supplying him with food and guns that it would be okay as well. I mean not the whole country of pakistan was doing it, just this one rouge base. I am not saying its not done, I am saying we should not tolerate it. Traitor to us? Bye bye to you. EtherealN Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 (edited) I have no doubt that Korea would sell us out though. Did not know we were allies. Why shouldnt we spend my tax dollars on helping them out. The US of A and South Korea has been allies ever since the former occupied the latter at the tail end of World War 2, later through the Korean War and from then on there has been a considerable US precense at the demarcation line between north and south. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_korea#United_States I am not saying its not done, I am saying we should not tolerate it. Traitor to us? Bye bye to you. We will take our money and supplies and let you fend for yourselves. The US needs access to Pakistani bases, ports, railroads to support it's efforts in Afghanistan. Classic quid-pro-quo. It's all just business, pretty much. In international relations no-one ever does anything just to be nice. The fact that you seem surprised quite simply surprises me. This is all what happens. What you might want to look at is the extent to which the Israeli intelligence agencies have infiltrated vital american functions, including the theoretical capability to en-masse record almost all telecommunication and internet traffic happening in the US. :P Countries do these things. All of them. Pakistan isn't going to say "yea we sent them pictures and samples of it" The US gives them tons of money every year. They are still a little mad because of the raid. They say they didn't know he was there......pfffff...sure.
