I get this message often. For example, taking off sukumi, the tower guy t ells me Im cleared to taxi to runway 30. Then I get there, i never get clearance to take off.

 

Is this a bug?

When you taxi to the runway, you have to stop almost against the runway,

after that ask the clearance for take off.

In fairness I think ATC would have a legitimate basis for grounding you for breaking procedure by entering the runway without permission :wassat:

 

I would tend to agree with:

ATC is not bugged. It's simply...missunderstood.

Sometimes it does it for me even when i stop short of the runway and wait, if i see nobody incoming i just take off anyway. Im all for realism but i dont want to spend 10 minutes waiting for the ok to take off.

I treat the ATC's as instilling guidance, not hard and fast laws.

 

If I wait, after an ICT, at the threshold, and get no response to a couple of calls,

and there is no other aircraft within 10 miles, inclusive of ground taxiers, I just

move on, listen to him double-pump "cannot clears" and wait for him to shuddup

after I rotate.

 

If you have a big mission, with a few jets in the pattern, you'll get the "orbit for

spacing" until they are all safely tucked away in Tab-vees.

 

Again, I check the area via map, and ensure no other aircraft is on approach, or

rolling out after landing, and pop it onto the runway.

 

I had a helo land on the active while damaged, and they bailed out on the runway.

 

It was a tricky approach, but I set it down anyway, as it was never going to be

cleared, and the other jets and helos just circled...
