flybye Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 How bout the SR-71 as a suggestion to add in? Although we wouldn't be able to do much with the SR-71 being a spy plane, I think it would simply look amazing to fly. I wonder if the game's engine would allow us to fly high enough to see what the regular SR-71 can see at 80,000ft..
Kaiza Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 A bit boring dont you think? The advantage of the DCS series over x-plane, MSFS is that you can employ weapons. Going up to 80k would be fun the first time, after that I'll need to be engaging targets to get my fix. Also DCS is a combat sim so an SR-71 wouldnt really fit. flybye Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 Yeah, like I mentioned before, we really wouldn't be able to do much with it. But think if we do need to get low enough for some good pictures, we would still need to A) Take a shot of the correct target B) Evade missiles Yeah, its certainly boring compared to an A-10 mission, but I'm the type that likes i diversity and I certainly wouldn't mind doing a spy mission every once in a while which would still be interesting if we have to evade missiles and radar.
112th_Rossi Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Also it would make the relative size of the current map really really small since you're up so high. And fast.
Shinigami Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Well if they make DCS-10 that is only a close air support plane way wouldn't they make a SR-71, is just a which like any other. But more than a SR-71 they could make a Recon version of all the planes and then yo get to do a recon mission and a bombing or intercept to. All they have to include is the camera, ENLINT, SIGINT etc... pod's, the aircraft recon missions is alway cool to do cause you have to penetrate the enemy defenses, and no the sat aren't always in site for recon, and some time they are blinded by clouds or the enemy. Speed Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 And you'd leave DCS's fairly small theater of operations rather quickly. In Falcon 4, the few times I flew the SR-71, I left the Korea theater VERY fast, even though it was bigger than DCS's Black Sea theater (by a little... later Falcon 4 theaters such as ODS were as much as 6X, 8X bigger than DCS in terms of detailed land area, but I never flew the SR-71 in them).
