Only under the condition of flying straight...

Yes ok I'll admit that is true. :)

As I recall from reading Warthog, a lot of those pilots were refueling due to long hours in the air as opposed to long travel times to and from missions. They were also frequently sent on 'wild goose' missions that were not part of the flight plan they departed on.

Of course the concept of CAS meant go where the trouble is so...

I love DCS A10c no question (bought and paid for in Beta3) if there is one major improvement to be made in my view its the handling of terrain textures and objects, they can look good but they scale bad.

That means mip mapping, LoD, parrallax and occulsion mapping or some flavour a plenty.

The cockpit is closr to perfection, the terrain and environment is not....yet

Having lived in Las Vegas I can't wait to fly in the area. Anyone know how much area is covered?

I am totally psyched.

For the naysayers: Judging by the screens, ED is clearly making big strides in map development. The Nevada map, according to Wags, utilizes a newly developed (developing?) method of populating cities. If you keep in mind that the map was given to them partially completed, it becomes obvious that they didn't just decide on Nellis for the hell of it. It seems to me Nevada is an opportunity for ED to give us a new map and road test some new technologies, which we will likely see in future projects (i.e., further maps down the road).

Will this addon be free?

AFAIK, only for people who preordered during the beta phase.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

only for the ones that bought the BETA Edition. If you just bought the release you will have to pay for it.

Having bought the release version on the day it came out, somewhat disappointed having to pay. Hoping it won't cost too much.

I haven't touched A-10C for a while but Nevada is definitely going to be an interesting re-visit. Just a shame it won't be released until end of 2011. Doing training scenarios doesn't sound that hot since most people have already mastered the Hog by then. Also Nevada in the beta was too small. I agree with what another poster mentioned, I would have preferred if the current map was expanded. Refueling is pointless on the current map we have.

I just wanted to point out that part of the reason the A-10 was picked over the YA-9 is because it has absolutely unmatched fuel efficiency, endurance, and loiter time. The thing is, with the sad little engines the A-10 has, it sips fuel like a martini.

All the more reason to have DCS: F-15E so you can tear ass across the sky at full afterburner and watch your fuel needle spin :D

Fair point, but think about it this way; Your $XXXX will encourage ED to make more DLC.

Which equals more fun for us... Very few things in life are free, and I think that any reasonable gamer can see the great entertainment value that these products provide.

ED deserves to be rewarded for their efforts as much as the rest of us.

Well my problem with DLC is that it's always massively overpriced when compared to the value of a full game...

Additionally I have more problems with, say, 3rd party apps. I'd love to pay for something like TACView, but the programmer wants £17 for it... consider *that* value compared to, maybe $15 for the entire Nevada theater.

Let me be the first to point out that the iPhone app store didn't make a billion trillion dollars because apps cost $30 each :/ If TACview was $8, or even $10, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. $30 is hard to swallow...

But I digress :D

You have digressed in to a fictional world I think :)

I would make a killer addon for a10 if I could sell a million of them for 99c. It's economies of scale.

Some guy wants 17 pounds for an app so he can make <2 pounds an hour averaged over all his sales and we have a problem with it?

Not every 3rd party app will make a sale for every a.10 sold so the prices comparatively will be higher, that doesn't mean anyone is getting a hard deal.

Same with nevada, I bet ED dont think every sale of a.10 will result in a sale of nevada so the price in comparison will have to be a bit higher. Thats just business - or they are giving stuff away.
