Both Winrar and 7 zip work and are free:)

7-Zip is genuinely free (open source), but WinRAR is free for 40 days after that you need to buy a license.

Both are good. 7-zip is slower at compressing, but compresses to a smaller size. WinRAR is quicker. Both are stable.

No, you don't must pay, if you can wait couple of seconds.

@Kankkis. Yes, you are right in that the software doesn't force you to buy it. However, the license agreement requires that you purchase it if you want to continue using it beyond 40 days.

You can read that here under "Section 6 The "Try Before You Buy" Model": http://www.win-rar.com/gtb_priv.html

I myself prefer WinRAR to 7-Zip, mostly out of loyalty. If you like to support independent software publishers you really should buy it.

WInRAR is free but after forty days you need to click a box to continue with evaluation. Both do a job, 7zip is good because you can open .pbo's (Arma file extension)

And Dark Eagle is 100% right get notepad ++ for all your editing of pretty much anything;)

You get stuck Eric just pop back onto teamspeak

You can open .lua files with windows basic notepad application that is preinstalled on your computer

Not a good idea - use Notepad++
