Villian ICE Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Alright I have looked on the forums and typed it in the search box but cannot find it any were. Can anyone tell me how u add these user file downloads such as, updated training and other training missions that are not on the original game from the the main page. Im currently on the landing training mission and there is a weird glitch were the trainer stops talking and cannot continue the training. This revised patch for the training mission is supposed to fix this problem. Thanks for the help guys.
EtherealN Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 You download, extract the archive, and place the .miz files in the appropriate directory in your steamapps folder. The folder should be something like: C:\Program Files (x86)Steam\Steamapps\common\DCS A-10C Warthog\Training\en In there you have three folders for the different chapters of training. EvilBivol-1 Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Villian, you downloaded the pack from the User Files website? If so, unpack it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dcs a-10c warthog\Training\en. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. Fakum Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Ok, I just downloaded the "A-10C-Training-HOTAS-Fundamentals.zip" file and extracted it, it is loaded with 29 .ogg files? I was expecting a .miz I guess,,, so where do I put these files? EtherealN Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/84730/ Note that it is: A-10C-Training-HOTAS-Fundamentals.miz Not: A-10C-Training-HOTAS-Fundamentals.zip Don't unzip it. There's nothing to unzip. Download, place in mission folder, play. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Fakum Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 ok,,, but as soon as I click on "Download" it clearly shows the file name, and the extention is .zip, not .miz? Am I supposed to download it then change the file extention to .miz manually? doesnt seem right Windows 10 Pro - 64 Bit / ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming / AMD 7800X3D / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 64GB DDR5 6000 Ram / SSD M.2 SK hynix Platinum P41 2TB / MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM Liquid X 24G / SteelSeries Arctis 7 Headset /LG-Ultragear 38" IPS LED Ultrawide HD Monitor (3840 x 1600) / Track IR4 / Thrustmaster TPR Pendular Rudder Pedals / Virpil HOTAS VPC Constellation ALPHA-R & VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle
EtherealN Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 That is extremely weird. I downloaded it (with Chrome) just now to test and it comes down as a .miz. If you open the file (not extracting it, just look inside the archive), you should see the ogg files (they're the sound files of the narration), but also two files named "mission" and "options", both without ending, size 350980 bytes and 2421 bytes respectively. If you see this, just rename it to .miz and try that. I tried it again in Windows Internet Exploder, and it appears to rename it to zip. So what you are experiencing is Exploder being retarded. Fakum Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 AHHHHH! ok,,, so it must be an Internet Explorer issue (gee that never happens lol). Thanks for the help, I will rename the file,,,, Windows 10 Pro - 64 Bit / ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming / AMD 7800X3D / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 64GB DDR5 6000 Ram / SSD M.2 SK hynix Platinum P41 2TB / MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM Liquid X 24G / SteelSeries Arctis 7 Headset /LG-Ultragear 38" IPS LED Ultrawide HD Monitor (3840 x 1600) / Track IR4 / Thrustmaster TPR Pendular Rudder Pedals / Virpil HOTAS VPC Constellation ALPHA-R & VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle
EtherealN Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Yeah, to be clear, the .miz (and the .trk actually) are technically zip archives. The sim uses standard zipping for those files, but has the special suffix to indicate to the simulator that it's a file formatted so it can use it. I suspect Internet Exploder is trying to be smart, detects that it's zipped, and tries to "help" you through renaming them...
