hawk66 Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Hey, I'm not an owner of A10C yet, but the sim looks very promising, also the mission editor seems to be awesome, with a lot of power and even Lua integration. Since I like designing missions at least much like flying, my concern is that testing is a little struggling due the long load times of the sim (at least I've read this several times in reviews). So if you are in the mission editor and you wanna test your stuff, does it always take 1-2 minutes to load the sim? Thanks.

Cibit Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 I had terrible load times and mission editing was a real pain. I used beta instal for mission making. However since patch 1.1.0.8 the load times have decreased substantially combined with an SSD card and a change of anti virus vendor. Its now my fastest loading game:) i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
EtherealN Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 So if you are in the mission editor and you wanna test your stuff, does it always take 1-2 minutes to load the sim? My suggestion would be to prototype your missions as if they were multiplayer missions even if they are singleplayer missions (set player plane to "Client" instead of "Player" until the mission is done). Then load Mission Editor and Multiplayer Server (they are separate applications) at the same time. This allow you to load a lot quicker through the MP interface whenever you have made a change, since the runtimes will already be in memory. WildFire Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Someone just told me the other day you could run the mission in MP and edit it in the GUI at the same time. Holy crap, I felt like I just stepped out of the 1980's. It made testing, edit, and debugging so much faster.
Buzpilot Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 SSD is fun and worth it , if i click fast I can open mission editor in just 12-14 seconds. i5 4670 - Sabertooth Z87- GTX Titan - Dell U3011 30" - 2x8GB RAM 1800 - Samsung 840 EVO 512GB SSD - Warthog HOTAS - CH Pro pedals - TrackIR5 - Win7 64bit EVERYTHING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Actually surprised it did that to you. (Game opens many zip files when loading mission, quess what AV is doing meanwhile) Edited June 21, 2011 by Iceman2011
ivanwfr Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Just couldn't resist this time to say and repeat that the worst virus on earth are anti-virus... They turn people into a frightened herd of addicts. If I were one of those who build such "tools", I would sponsor a whole bunch of vicious "geniuses" to spread more of those stinking fancy threats. If your refrain from clicking on everything that pops under your pointer, you won't plague your system. And when in doubt: http://www.virustotal.com/ Here! I just got my rant fix of the day.
Iceman2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 (edited) If your refrain from clicking on everything that pops under your pointer, you won't plague your system. I think that's the internet security tip #1 of all time Too bad people keep clicking when they see "You Just WON a MILLION - Click Here To Get It" - buttons Well it's all about money, so - wouldn't be surprising if AV software companies had as much virus writers as virus killer coders at work...
