Alexrey Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I've noticed, in all the A-10 gun strafe videos I've watched, that when the GAU-8 is fired, a black box appears in the top left part of the HUD, presumably hiding sensitive data. Does anyone know what this could be?
Conure Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 could you link one of the vids?? Intel i7 6700k, Asus GTX1070, 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz, CH Fighterstick, CH Pro Throttle, CH Pro Rudder Pedals, Samsung Evo 850 SSD @ 500GB * 2, TrackIR 5 and 27" monitor running at 2560 * 1440, Windows 10.
GGTharos Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 All it means is that the pilot pulled the trigger/pushed the pickle. It isn't hiding anything. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Alexrey Posted June 26, 2011 Author Posted June 26, 2011 Hmmm, I haven't noticed this happenint in DCSW during strafes. Does it only show up in a recording?
GGTharos Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 Yep, it's a 'tape' feature. In DCSW you will see a 'weapon release event' marked as a 'W' on HUD. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

toby23 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 What is the dashed line with a box on the end coming off the target in that video? Some kind of guide to target? Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060
Kenan Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 It's to show the debrief guys back at the office when the Pilot pulled the trigger or pressed the pickle button. ^^No. It actually displays "LOL!" every time a pilot pulls the trigger but they blacked it out cuz they want us to believe Hog drivers are mature profesionals. Kaiza Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 What is the dashed line with a box on the end coming off the target in that video? Some kind of guide to target? Just posted about this in another thread in the military section, but I was wondering the same thing. I reckon it is the pave penny cue index described on page 365 of the manual. 11. Pave-Penny Cue Index. The PAVE-PENNY Cue Index is displayed as a dotted line extending from the TVV to the TISL Spider when the Spider is outside the HUD FOV. The dotted line is removed once the target enters the HUD FOV. If the TISL Spider is within the HUD FOV when lock on occurs, the PAVE-PENNY Cue Index appears for 2 seconds and then removed. The purpose of the index is to provide a method for acquiring the TISL Spider and distinguishing it from the TD Box during maneuvering. toby23 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Sorry but I don't understand that quote. The dotted line was also never removed in the video. ? Ryzen 5800X, 32GB RAM, RTX 3060
