To add what Grime has said, regularly review the BETA bug reports so you can see what has been reported and will likely get fixed in the next update.

No point in trying to figure out workarounds or rewriting a mission from scratch if the fix is in the next patch.

I think one thing is more annoying: to spend 20 hours building a mission and then to find out that after a patch it is no longer playable until you spend another 5h to fix it :cry:

Oh certainly. I was approaching it from the point of view of a player but I sympathise immensely with our content creators who generously donate so much time and effort and then find they need to give even more to fix things, with some players thinking they're entitled to expect them to do so :(

I agree with both Grimes and Sabre.

My post was on the joke side of things, as to be honest in my (not that long) "career" of mission building I never had an instance that something totally ceased to work. Perhaps one of the reasons is that I don't use scripts (I think I am too lazy to learn), only the triggers from the ME.

And what Grimes says about using old missions to test new patches makes a lot of sense - and it should be us, mission designers doing it first, as we know exactly what is supposed to happen in a mission and when and it is easiest for us to spot the reason why something is not working. At least at the "mechanics" side of the game.

This discussion would be best suited for a dedicated thread... but I will say this;

Mission compatibility should be maintained between different versions of the sim, however tweaks may always be needed due to changes of AI behavior, bugs, and the fact that the sim is always going to be changing. These tweaks are not always on your end, as there could very well be game-wide bugs. I don't believe throwing out old missions is a step needed to be taken, rather you need to isolate what the problem might be, reproduce it, and report it. In fact I think that playing older missions to see what works and what doesn't work should be considered part of the beta process. Just don't assume that everything is going to function exactly the same as it did before and be on the lookout for anything odd and be inquisitive of the stuff that does look odd.

Agreed, I think once some of the bug fixes happen missions will be easier to update.
