I've managed to complete a few more missions, now I'm wondering about how to take off at night.

What is the easiest way to get cockpit lights on as quickly as possible from scractch? Is it possible to see the switches without using the keyboard, or do I have to do half the take-off procedure via keyboard shortcuts.

I would assume I need to get the power systems up before the lighting works, but there's no way I can see any of the switches in the dark. Can I use a flashlight, or a cell phone to light things up?

Thank you very much! I'll give this a go soon.

Always great responses on this forum, thanks for the excellent support.

Will do, that seemed very clear. Was just confused by Divide Et Impera's post.

He was confusing the A-10C with the Kamov. In the A-10C it is as follows as he alluded to:

EDIT:

according to the threat, I tested a night mission and have to say that one can set night vision goggles without doing anythings before. Start the mision at night and activate nvg and you are good to go. Track in the attachements as proof.

GameVersion is full install 1.1.0.9.

Hey guys, I am a bit confused. I tried to create a night mission considering the moon phases to have a fully dark night. However, in the GUI manual on page 65 it says that by changing the day values on the start time, so the changed values would have been an effect on the moon the stars and the sun.

But for some reason it doesnt.

I searched for moon phases 2011. And how the coincedence wanted, the first of June is new moon and new moon means no moon equal total dark night.

So I kept 0 as day value and set time of day 01:00 am.

But...in the Game now I have full moon which would actually mean the 15th of June, which further means that the night day value should have been set on 15.

Is this a bug, or which year of moon phases is coverd by the day System in DCS?

Stop trying to tempt me to buy A10, I don't like flying planes! :)

Nate--IRL--, your advice was perfect! Managed to take off from scratch on the Alert! mission, and what's more, I figured out how to put the search light on! I completed the mission before with no searchlight, the only way I could see the enemies was by following their tracers.

Must say, I'm loving the game. Real feeling of satisfaction when you slaughter all the infintry near the start.

OK, I had to check the Battery switch keys too......

Use LCTRL+LALT+LSHIFT+E to raise the battery switch cover and then

LCTRL+LSHIFT+E to flip the battery switch.

Then Press K

Nate

hmm...I am not really sure that this is the way it has to be actually...it´s more kind of cheating on my mind. Did you checked my track I´ve added to my post (last one on page 1)? Night Vision Goggles are working (think they are self power supplied by batteries or somethings, same as for Infantry units). By using them no need for fumbling around for 5 Minutes or use key combos.

Issue #1: This thread deals with DCS: Black Shark whereas you are referring to the A-10C.

Issue #2: I had a look at your track and at startup there is no full-moon at all. Mind posting a screenshot of your install reflecting the full-moon as I cannot see it on my install.

Edit: Re issue #2, nevermind. I see now that the day you set was the 15th, explaining the absence of the moon, which brings me to the next point: Why are you assuming that 2011 forms the basis of the Lunar Cycle data as portrayed In-SIM?

I'll attempt to ascertain which year is being utilized for the lunar cycle data and let you know.

I'm not sure what this thread is about anymore, feels like its off topic so I see my chance to post my question..

How do I turn on the night lights in the cockpit?

I remember I used it before in the Deployment campaign, but after that nothing happens when I flip the switch..

Did I miss something?

Lighting Control panel (Right side to the bottom of the Engine Control Panel).

Without NVG's:

Toggle ADI SAI and PANEL HSI ADI switches up

With NVG's:

Toggle NVG switch up

Sorry for forcing off topic. I saw this A-10C Cockpit Screenshot and thought that those questions were accidently made in BS Forums.

You are right, I made this track according to the NVG thing, accidently for A-10.

I'll attempt to ascertain which year is being utilized for the lunar cycle data and let you know.

This is very nice, thank you for this.

Sorry for confusing this thread, back to topic now.

@ Memphis:

As I understand it, in regards to Black Shark, Lunar data as per 2009 and in regards to A-10C, 2010. For confirmation, see your Config/World/World.lua files of the respective installs.

Let me know if you pick up discrepancies if you do decide to tinker.
