Dowly Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 It's all visual with the Ka-50. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "I don't like porn. I simply appreciate the female anatomy ...a lot."
AlphaOneSix Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 When Ka-50's were used operationally in Chechnya, a standard flight was a pair of Ka-50;s and a Ka-32. The Ka-32 carried people and equipment that allowed them to have more contact with more people more of the time, making the Ka-32 a sort of mini-AWACS. The Air Mission Commander in the Ka-32 (since he's not busy flying a Ka-50) is able to concentrate completely on battlefield communications and coordination with other air and ground units, and from there he is able to direct the Ka-50's as required. I don't believe that the Ka-32 had the same datalink equipment as the Ka-50, but maybe they had some add-on equipment to allow it *shrug*. Also, I don't remember ever reading about datalink usage in Chechnya. Not sure if that's because they didn't really use it, or because it was considered sensitive info at the time, or if it just got left out of all the overviews and summaries. EDIT: Of course, none of this helps you in game. Who knows, maybe someday some kind of airborne command and control will be implemented.
RvETito Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 (edited) Actualy this has been a specially modified Ka-29 - http://kr.blog.yahoo.com/shinecommerce/15454 You can see the Shkval window under the nose. other Ka-29's don't have it. Ka-32 is a civil helicopter on which, unfortunately, I no longer work :( Edited August 20, 2011 by =RvE=Tito "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. Outstanding info, thanks! Ka-32 is a civil helicopter on which, unfortunately, I no longer work :( NOOOOOOOOOO! Well, as long as you're doing something you enjoy (hopefully) things aren't so bad. :)
awdrgyjo Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 If its any help, having taken advice from other members, the fairly vague SA provides another dimension to the sim, and indeed, a sense of real achievement when you outsmart them, indeed, every time I encounter targets, I learn a lesson, thats the difference between a game, and a sim. having said this, I still have a lot to learn, thus the uncoordinated landings, and small parts of the KA-50, being spread out in large areas.
PeterP Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 (edited) Bee_Sting, It's called: "Eyeball MkI" ;) I think he wants to say that you should get a "Head-Tracker" AKA TrackIR, Freetrack or whatever.... Edit: And than fly on-line with other Human-Intelligent units to infiltrate your target. Head-Tracker + on-line + HI will higher the possibilities much more that you will have a much better situation awareness. As long the communication works... (Team-Speak,Data-Link,...) BTW : We can start arguing how it is in RL and it is handled in the sim , but... If you follow my advise- you will have a 200%+ better game-play experience. Edited August 21, 2011 by PeterP
