Boberro Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Public 1.6 is going to be released in November, so finally I will test it :) Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
jockyboy99 Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Hi I really would like this capability but can seem to get it to work. I'm running window professinal 64 bit, I have an older quad core processer so hopefully 1.5 will work for me? ( I will make a donation and see if 1.6 improves things) I have followed the tutorial steps and have noticed a couple of things, I don't have the x86 folder in the bin folder? The face API and Face track noir work fine. When I enter the A10 C sim the screen freezes looking upward and I have no movement control. I'm assuming it is with the ini file? As the camara normal controls are disabled I believe the ini is loading, Any help to overcome this will be greatly appreciated.

It should work as long as you have the headtracker dll file and your facetracknoir settings file are inside your bin folder, if not I would head over to the facetracknoir forum for some help http://sourceforge.net/projects/facetracknoir/forums I think you will find the PS3eye will track at 60fps using the modifications to the USB driver ini file due to the resolution FTNoIR want to run at. I still can't seem to get the hotkeys working whilst in DCS A10C full screen, not sure whats up there others seem to be ok. BigBANGtheory you are correct, my ps3 eye camera arrived and installed, I get a maximum of 50fps due to limitations in the face api and facetracknoir. But it seems to be working well for me now. I think the biggest problem is getting the curves correct for your system. Everybody's machine has different capabilities so looking at someone's curves example and trying to duplicate them is a waste of time, you have to do it for your own system to get it right. Boberro Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 OK, I tested the 1.6 and here are my conclusions: 1. App often loses face lock, re-locking takes some time - even few seconds. 2. Delays are too much noticeable - often it is 1 second or more. 3. Too few settings. FreeTrack has many setups. I often get problems with releasing position to game zero, where in FreeTrack it is no problem - reset brings back to oryginal position. In FaceTrack often not. 4. You can't rotate head too far on the right\left, cause FaceTrack may loose lock. 5. Sometimes it doesn't lock your eyes correctly - in demo of API I could choose what I want to be tracked - eyebrows, lips, eyes and so on. It works. Overall my conclusion is: Program would have great future but without such things I mentioned. It has big plus that you don't have to wear cap or handset device (like in FT or TiR). Nonetheless it is far behind FreeTrack nad TiR I think. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... BigBANGtheory Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I am inclined to agree with you Boberro. I think as a free piece of software, its fantastic and it does definately work it just doesn't work well enough for me or my expectations atm. From my experience after spending a couple of hours experimenting with the settings is that you either introduce too much lag and or cannot keep the view stable outside of the deadzone. I will definatly try future updates, but I am going to have to revert to a FreeTrack or TiR solution for playing I think.
cragheyder Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I came to the same conclusion - there is one other bug I found: if you break the lock and need to restart, you have to close out the app or the lock will calibrate the z distance at a far greater range - like 73 for example, putting the camera near the tail of the plane.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 31, 2011 ED Team Posted October 31, 2011 I have not noticed that with my facetracknoir, the reset works fine and even the game zero setting seems to work for me. maybe I was just lucky :) makes a change lol Forum rules - DCS Crashing? DiabolicActual Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Do any buttons need to be bound ? For some reason I get no movement after doing all of the above steps. I have FTIR 1.6 also.
TonyStovepipe Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 (edited) Sorry for bumping a oldish thread but I made an account just to say thanks to miahallen for the guide :D I now have my xbox 360 kinect as my camera and it work very nice with the a10 warthog cockpit. Here a little you tube video with your guide setting and the xbox 360 kinect and it makes the game so much better :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=cDohcCihdu8 And one while moving http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=PVt9av7cvxw I lose about 10fps but it's worth it and I can also lower some setting later if I need. Thanks again. Edited December 29, 2012 by gothicghost
Aries Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Anyone tried the PointTracker plugin on this? Is it stable? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] ...the few, the proud, the remaining...
Tekkx Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Hey Aries. Don't know if you still there... I have FTNIR 1.8 alpha running and use PointTracker 1.1 (Tracker Source) with a home made 3-IRLED-clip. Besides I still have to mess with curves - which interferes between FTNIR and DCS - it runs very stable and reliable. I set a good reachable key (in Options - Keyboard and Mouse Shortcuts) to Center it while flying cause after streching exercises Zero-Point changes everytime. Would appreciate if someone could share his experiences with curves. Manual for my version of RS485-Hardware, contact: tekkx@dresi.de Please do not PM me with DCS-BIOS-related questions. If the answer might also be useful to someone else, it belongs in a public thread where it can be discovered by everyone using the search function. Thank You.
