Hi ED,

Is it a known problem that the servers are missing in the list after a view hours?

STP Server Nr. II is missing in the list after ca. 30-60min.

STP Server Nr. III the same problem.

33rd Squadrons Servers same problem.

Is it known?

I believe this is a known issue but it would be nice to have confirmation. With a linksys E2000 router we have to put our server in the DMZ fro it not to be dropped. This is only since 1.1.0.9.

A known problem for sure. Personally i done a hell of a lot of testing for ED with regards to Multiplayer stability and the dreaded Master Server list, but to no avail. However, get rid of the 'big brother' Master server list and you get rid of the problem.

Contingency plans such as making available your direct IP via other methods (Website, TS MOTD) is a way of beating the problem, for now. Placing in the DMZ has no effect at all, i assure you.

It works quite well using the DMZ for the box when hosting. When I use it the server is not dropped. Essentially the DMZ is making your direct ip available all the time and all ports. For now opening all ports on the server (DMZ) works for me.

"The DMZ screen allows one local user to be exposed to the Internet for use of a special-purpose service such as Internet gaming and videoconferencing. DMZ hosting forwards all the ports at the same time to one PC. The Port Range Forwarding is more secure because it only opens the ports you want to have opened, while DMZ hosting opens all the ports of one computer, exposing the computer to the Internet." ;)

Not a new issue, see my post in the thread from last Spring

From page 4 of that thread, I thought your issue was resolved Dragon?

We've had the same issue since day one, along with the full screen vs windowed screen issue of disappearing names in the plane selection screen. (Full screen all names are visible, windowed screen they disappear when they take a plane slot)

You can find my server in the list... but after e.g. 30min it will disappear.

The problem in your topic was that the server was never shown in the list.

I observed this issue too, but in my case it is a little different: sometimes it does not happen for a few days and our server is always in the list. Other times I do not see our server in the list right from the beginning, and even restarting the server does not help.

And what is even more interested, it is not consistent for all users: sometimes some of our squad-members see the server, others do not. It is a kind of random behaviour, changing from time to time. But at any time we all can connect using IP (fyi, you can even connect using domain-name, it is easier to remember).

The problem from the original thread:

Yep we still are having a similar issue. When we first start up our server, it shows in the Internet List. After some period of time, I think after someone has connected and then disconnects, the server disappears from the Internet list but does still show in History for anyone who has previously been in the server since we use a static IP. Direct connect works for our members that, for whatever reason, don't have it in their History list.

Ells228 replied that it might be fixed with 1.09 and asked to post back if it was fixed. Which I did, saying it was not fixed. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=68223&page=4

The confusion on my part comes from your reply directly under mine that you had a similar issue and had fixed it. I was thinking the issue you had was the same as mine and others in that thread,, my bad..

I'm here.

Jokes aside - we'll I guess we'll see how well DCS World & P51D behaves, if it remains in the lists.

So far, the few days I've been hosting, it's remained listed. (not the past week though - been offline).

Yesterday I installed DCS World on my Server (=STP= Spare-Time-Pilots II).

Sadly I couldn't see it in the list. :(

Connecting over LAN was working fine.

I didn't changed anything on the server (Windows/Firewall/Port everything is the same as before).

If I host a 1.1.1.1 Server everything is working fine.

@ Panzer: I copied the "Addons" folder from the 1.1.1.1 installation into DCS World folder.

Also the main.lua into the respective folder.

Is this correct?

I'm reporting this issue.

It would be nice if someone is able to 'figure out when this happens / how to reproduce'.

Dragon; By the sounds of it. But if you have problems hosting, stay away from Servman until you have a stable Server. Then add ServMan.

Dragon; You may not see your Internet MP server on LAN using the 'internet-list MP browser' from another PC.

To see a server on your LAN - you must use LAN now instead of the 'internet list'. (It's a bug).

Hi Panzer, sorry, I don't understand your sentense... you know my english is not the best.

Please can you use other words and explain again.

In order to see server created in 'Internet' mode from other computer inside the same local network, you have to choose for client 'LAN' mode.

Ah...

I can't see my server in the INTERNET-list when I use a client in the same network?

So I'm not able to test by myselfe if my server is shown in the INTERNET-list.

I have to connect by LAN-list and wait for other clients.

Correct?

No.

Your server started in Internet mode (server's PC connected to internet via router). All clients in wide internet must set also 'Internet' mode in order to see this server.

But another client in the same local network, behind the same router should set LAN-mode and will see your server. So, your server will host all clients - in wide internet and in local network simultaneously. It's tested and work.

Someone should start a screenprint dump every half hour and publish the dump to an open picture site. Or ED should make a HTTP page to see what servers is located on the list from the masterserver.

Currently, clients do not show servers, which do not respond to UDP requests.

One option would be to show such servers as bare IP addresses w/o any info.

This may answer the question whether a given server is in the list or not.
