Lately I've been doing some bad weather ILS training but for some reason I don't always get ILS indications on my ADI even though I set it up correctly. I always choose airfields that have ILS systems available, and then set the correct ILS frequency, power it up, and select ILS on the NMSP. I take off, come around and line up with the correct runway, but I'll get no ADI indications. Do some airfields have broken ILS systems sometimes? I ask this because at one of the airfields, its ILS system was working perfectly fine in clear weather, but when I changed the conditions to dense fog, the ILS system no longer worked. I thought that the whole point behind using ILS was for safe landings in IMC.

Have you toggled the ADI Localizer bar switch to the left? It is also on the NMSP panel? Also are you sure your getting the ILS tone, as to me the on-off switch seems backwards in the simulation. BTW. what airbase is this at?

Sounds like you already are using the right runway, but just to be sure, since the way its written in the DIVERT page has led me to the same problem a few times.

Hmm, I couldn't tune to Senaki (108.90) in your track (no ILS tone, no marker beacons), but was able to tune into Batumi at 110.30 ...

I created a test mission and was able to tune into Senaki though ...

By the way you need to set to set ADI localizer bar switch to ABLE (it's set to STOW in your track which prevents the yellow bars from being shown)

I have take lately my fun to make some ILS landing for fun in incredible bad weather situation. ( even on earth i was just not completely see the light around the rundway ). ( since 1.10 i really it have been a lot improved )

No problem so far... but ofc i have not test all airport .....

( dont ask me why, but i like thoses type of excercise, as ILS landing etc in real impossible situation )

i will look your track Alexrey

I have not follow all the threads about the ADI localizer ... but i really find more easy in 1.10 to get them right ...

maybe something i miss .......... but i have surely made 20 ILS training bad weather fog landing in 1.09 and even more 1.10 and i really like how the ILS work in the last patch ... ( it's realy more fast and easy )

theres the problem still of the 5 degree off.. but i set it manually for revert it. ( ILS is not touched by this so with a mix of Tacan+ILS it is not important )

Woops, forgot the localizer able switch. Surely, though, with the warning flags everywhere I would not be able to even get a signal at all?

That switch does not influence signal reception. When ILS is enabled (as you did in your track) and set the correct frequency you should be able to hear it. I don't know why I doesn't work in you track, it worked in clean mission.

The localizer bars may not work as they should but when you select STOW you will not see the yellow localizer bars anyway. If they are ever fixed then ABLE will need to be selected :P

Read the linked thread. The yellow command bars are not your primary ILS indicators nor are they needed to fly an ILS. You have two Course Deviation Indicators, or CDIs, one on the left hand of the ADI and one on the HSI. It's better to use those.

Batumi worked for me too, but when I decided to fly to Kobuleti I got the same problem, no ILS signal, even though Kobuleti's divert page info says it has an ILS on runway 7 at 111.50, and I know for a fact that Kobuleti has worked for me before since that was the first airfield that I even landed on using ILS.

Are you sure its R07? I just ask becaus its a bit confusing on the DIVERT page, or it was.

Im with effte about the yellow bars: Forget them. They are not your primary indications so dont get confused by them (they dont or at least did not work properly)

Like you said though, if your tuned and within range you should get the tone as long as the right knob is pulled on the navaids panel.

Try again with a fresh mission is my other suggestion

Yeah, I don't use the yellow bars anymore, but I know it was runway 07 because I've successfully performed an ILS landing on that runway before. This time around all of the red warning flags were up and no Morse signal was being broadcast.

I have not done a lot in 1.1.10 but every time I have I have experienced multiple wierdness with the radios. ILS is also a radio (navaid). I wonder if its all screwed up. I would be surprised if that was not well documented by now though.

Well i haven't flew in 1.1.1.0 yet, but patch notes said that each runway got a second ILS frequency one for each direction.

Hi Alexrey

I watched your track and couldnt see anything you were doing wrong. I then replayed it but took control straight away and flew approaches at both ends. Same result. No ILS.

I then made my own mission at the same airbase, starting from cold. As soon as I turned on the ILS it was apparent that it was working. I went up, flew an ILS and everything seemed normal.

Looks like there was something wrong with your mission. Did I sense dynamic weather? I wonder if something like that could affect it. I made my mission with standard weather. Attached mission and track for you to try.

I changed my weather for dynamic and the ILS still worked so scratch that idea.

have try your track Alexrey, i see you have the 2 flags, and no sound of the ILS ..

So i have just put a plane on the same airport with the editor for check.

As you see no problem there. ( Bar was on stow, so they not appear )
